CZ 50 mag or CZ 70 mag with notch on follower question
« on: January 22, 2022, 11:37:39 AM »
I've attach a pic of two mags... one is a CZ 50 and other is CZ70.. I cant find out any info so far,  but is the mag to the left with a notch in the follower a CZ50 or 70? I've read where one will fit the other and wonder if anyone knows

thanks

My Vz50 has a notch in the follower for its mag.
My Vz70 mags do not have a notch in its follower.

They all seem to fit interchangeably in each other though I have not tried shooting them with exchanged mags.

Since they are both designed for 7.65 (32 ACP) ammo, you MIGHT think that they would work.

But the feed ramp and battery are slightly different in both.

So...to test the theory, I loaded the "notched" mag from my Vz50 with FIVE (5) A-Zoom .32 ACP snap caps.

These manually cycled well through my Vz50.

Putting the "notched" mag into my Vz70 and trying to do the same, it experienced a FTE jam requiring slide removal to clear.
Repeating the test, the FTE jam happened again.

So, in conclusion, you need a "notched" mag in your Vz50, but don't try to use it in your Vz70.
