CZ75 slide slack
« on: January 10, 2022, 04:49:19 AM »
Hi,

I am a new cz75 sp01 shadow owner. Ive been craving this gun for a while, and finally was able to obtain a used one (built in 2016). I am still getting used to it, and mostly getting used to the 9mm calibre, because up until now i have only been shooting .22 pistols and rifles ( i still flinch a lot in anticipation of the bigger bang the 9mm makes )

There is one thing that concerns me a bit though, i have included a video:

There seems to be quite a bit of play in the slide. Is this normal? Wont this affect accuracy?

That is normal and can be found to varying degrees in any production semi auto pistol. As long as barrel lock up is tight and consistent accuracy will be just fine.

Ok good to know. That means the wildy inaccurate shots are the result of crappy shooting on my side  ;D
Like i said, the move from .22 to 9mm is making me flinch like crazy (started doing some dry firing to get more aware of it)

Unfortunately, some all metal CZs have poor slide to frame fit and some have minimum play. I had a few online purchases that had about .020-.025 play, and CZ said that was acceptable. That always bothered me, so I sold them. It will not affect accuracy since you reacquire the sight after each shot.

Good luck with the flinch. I have it, and a good light trigger will help a lot.

Slide to frame fit does vary gun to gun.  If you spring for an Orange line of CZ pistols, they hand fit the frame to slide and it is very tight.  I'd spend your money on ammo so you can eliminate the flinch first though.

That said, some of my most accurate guns have loose slide fits.  Consistent barrel lockup matters.

Cheers,
Toby
