New To Me CZ 75B SAO
« on: October 25, 2021, 12:37:44 AM »
Found a LNIB CZ 75B SAO online at a decent price.  Wasn’t too sure about the VZ G10s that came already installed.  But after a closer look and feel, I can live with them. Polished the internals, reduced the hammer hooks slightly without changing the hook/sear geometry, tightened up the sear cage, drilled and tapped the trigger for a pre travel screw, and installed a set of Truglo TFX Pros.

Makes a nice companion to the FrankenCZtein shown below it

I know a guy with a CZ75 SA 9MM.  He takes two or three pistols to the range.  Shoots a group or two with the other pistols and spends the rest of his shooting session with the SA in his hands.  I asked him why he shoots it so much more than the other pistols and his reply is, "You know I like shooting small groups."

I don't have one but they are nice pistols.  Some people convert their SA/DA CZ75 pistols to SAO.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I have the SAO in both 9 and 40.  They're great shooters.

Looks nice. I have two SAs and one I put a TS upper on and the other is waiting for a CZC Bullseye upper. I like the frame of the SAs more than the regular 75s it fits my hand a little better.

I agree.  The upswept beaver tail is a little bigger and makes it much more comfortable for me to shoot.  The beaver tails on other CZs, even the PCR, would always did into the back of my hand and leave me with a blister after as range session.  Guess I have delicate less than manly hands.

I have read numerous positive comments about the 75B SA.

Now that you have one, anything negative you have to say about it?

Also what would be a reasonable price for one in good condition?

Thanks

The only real negative I found are the sights are too small for me - I wear blended bifocals.  That's the first thing I change.  One other thing that may or may not be a factor for you on the SA manual safety is the upswept beaver tail.  The beaver tails on other model CZs gives me a blister on the back of my hand after a couple of mags.  Some people don't have that problem.

Price wise, I've seen online and local sales for as little as $500 recently.  But they tend to be closer to the $750 range.  I got my used one for about $625 total on gunbroker after all the taxes, shipping and fees.

You might also consider the SP-01 if you want a full size SA gun with a manual safety and upswept beaver tail.  It's heavier and has a slightly larger frame due to the light rail plus I think they cost a little more.

Good luck with your search,
Pete

I shot my SA until it fell out of favor versus my red dot equipped pistols.

It's still a fantastic shooting pistol.

I was not aware there is a SP-01 SA. Perhaps you are referring to a DA/SA converted, yes/no?

Oops - you're right.  My single remaining brain cell can't keep track of all the different models.

Nice! I think the SA is the best CZ 75B.
