CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer MTR Arca Rail
« on: February 01, 2022, 06:31:44 PM »
Finally got my new CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer MTR which has the forend recessed, drilled, and threaded for use with an Arca rail.
My question is, where can I find a Arca rail that will fit the location of the factory threaded holes which are 3 1/4 “ O.C. ?

Area 419 Arca rails do not fit this bolt pattern and I can’t find any in internet searches so was there any planning with CZ R&D with the placement of these holes since it was one of my major buying points.

Ya, it will fit with size but my problem is that the mounting hole in the rail do not match up with the factory mounting holes in the factory Manner stock.

But thank you for your help.

You have to add more holes to attach to the Manners.

Thanks but that’s last year’s. Cz 457 mtr and you drilled into stock and set nut certs into stock. The new mtr has the stock drilled and threaded for that rail but the location of the factory threaded holes don’t match the holes in the area 419 Arca rail.

I understand I could drill new holes next to the existing in my stock or drill new holes in any Arca rail to match my stock but I really don’t want ro for a $1,500 22 that states that this was its new option when I purchased the rifle.

I have an older 455 VPT with Manners stock.  The Area 419 Arca rail lined up with the two swivel studs, however I did have to drill and insert a T-nut for the rear of the rail.  It’s easy.  Follow the tips in the A419 Youtube video.  Start with a 1/4” bit, then use a 3/4” spade bit to make a recess for the T-nut.  I only went as deep as I needed to get the T-nut below the surface.  The fiberglass in the Manner’s stock is easy to work with, it drills clean.  I did clamp my stock to my work bench to hold it steady and went slow.  Next time I remove my barrel and action I’ll probably seal the hole with some JB Weld or epoxy just in case.

Thank You, but here are some photos of the new CZ457 that is factory drilled and threaded with holes 3 1/4” O.C. which doesn’t fit the footprint of the Area 419 holes.

On the front part of the Area 419 rail where the sling studs would be its slotted open so the front 2 will fit in the slot. On the 12” it’s a 5.195 open slot and on the 14” it’s a 5.545 open slot. Now back down the rail towards the trigger you get them to line up maybe not but there is where you would redrill new holes. Hope that helps.

I'd suggest contacting CZ-USA and/or Area 419 to make sure both your rifle stock and rail are both as they should be. It's possible one of them is out of spec. I recall handling one of the new 457 stocks with the Arca rail on it a while back and don't recall anything being said about needing to drill holes. I (like you) was under the impression it was a direct and easy mount. Good luck!

I contacted CZ-USA via phone customer service and they implied I was crazy. They told me to send the rifle back and they would take a look at it, I asked them wouldn’t make more sense sending me the proper spacing measurements? I was instructed to contact warranty and fill out the online form and maybe they could give you this information.
Still no response from warranty…not impressed.

Area 419 was not even aware that CZ was coming out with this new stock and couldn’t help me either.

Ended up going with Henderson Precision , I think this will work just fine. Unfortunately I had to sen my Area 419 8” back since it did not fit the holes.
