View Trijicon (various optics)
« on: December 29, 2021, 10:35:03 AM »
Just a quick post showing the (redundant) view through the multiple Trijicons I either have or had in the past. My apologies for the poor picture quality of these images, as my cellphone camera can only do so much and, it in no way resembles just how clear and bright the actual view is. Also, I had added text to all of them to demo the reticle size in relation to my target backstop for several other friends. When I get the chance I’ll take a few more pics using an old XL t-shirt on a silhouette as I did for the TA44, just have to get the time away from work.

Also, just for GP, I’ll add the disclaimer that I know quite a few people who aren’t Trijicon fans and/or prefer other manufacturer’s products. I get that, just remember that personally for me, they fit the bill for what I’m looking for in an optic, be it the old tech of the fixed power ACOGs or the simple Accupoint line of LPVO.

Cheers, hope y’all enjoy!

I reckon I should start off with the ones I currently have, namely my newest addition, the 1-4x TR24G Accupoint, Green Triangle Post Reticle that sits atop my AUG in a lightweight Aero mount (total weight of this optic & mount combo is 17 oz). I really, REALLY, like this optic a lot, and am thinking about getting another, possibly two, as my wife likes it as well and already wants mine to replace the TA44C I put on her rifle. [emoji23]

The pics from 4 PM were on an overcast day. The one in the morning should be self-explanatory. Also, a small note about the triangle’s size at different magnification levels (from Trijicon rep, and I’ll also include the numbers he gave me for the 1-6x TR25);
1x: 16.8 MOA
2x: 8.4 MOA
3x: 5.6 MOA
4x: 4.2 MOA
*5x: 3.4 MOA
*6x: 2.8 MOA

Pic I took looking at interior wall in pitch black room at approximately five yards, illuminated only by the Streamlight HL-X mounted on my AUG.

Finally, a not so great shot of the TR24’s eye relief, which is consistent through the entire magnification range.

To be continued….

Next up are my two favorite ACOGs, which is why I still have them. First, the TA33 Green Horseshoe model. As for the reticle, the horseshoe measures 10 MOA with a 2 MOA dot. Lightweight with great eye relief. For me this model is like a more powerful version of the TA44C, albeit with a much smaller FOV. Love how this and the other compact ACOGs allow for great peripheral vision awareness, especially versus the more common 4x32 models.

Also, I forgot to mention that I prefer a green reticle, and in spite of what the pictures may seem to show, Trijicon green doesn’t blend with the green vegetation on and around my property.

Next is the TA44C, which has a 23 MOA ring and 2 MOA dot.

Onto ones that I no longer have, in spite of liking each of them for their own respective reasons.

I’ll start with the 3.5x35 TA110 LED Green Chevron. My biggest complaint with this model is that it is a pig concerning weight (heavier by several ounces than my TR24 and mount)! Otherwise, I feel that the LED option takes away the complaint many have about traditional dual illumination ACOGs, and I wish they would make the TA33 with an LED.

This entry will show several others, since I didn’t get many pics with them.

First up is the relatively unknown 2x20 TA47 model, which if Trijicon would put in the horseshoe dot or ring dot reticle, I would have at least a couple of them. This is another very lightweight model with very good eye relief, and fast target acquisition.

The 9 MOA triangle model, which was my first ACOG:

My second one, with the amber triangle:

Finally, another seemingly nonexistent model, the 3x24 TA50. This one is virtually identical in size and weight to the 2x20 TA47, and of all I’ve owned, has the least eye relief (but more than what Trijicon lists and, more than the 4x32 models A LOT of people complain about).

Very nice, very in depth, much appreciated. Unfortunately for me, Trijicon is FAR out of my budget reach - my best optic is my SIG Romeo5 red dot. Someday I might get a LPVO for either the AR or the BREN, but until then, it's short range for me. Again, thank you, and love the visual aids!

Thanks again y’all! Here’s a few more additions from a few minutes ago, this time looking through the TR26 2.5-12.5x Accupoint, aimed in on one of my XXL flannels. The sun was pretty much hiding behind the clouds when I was snapping pics, so this’ll give a good idea of just how brightly the fiber optic “pops” on the reticle , especially with only having the F.O. cover open about 1/4 turn.

Thank you very much!

Here’s several more I’ve done over the last few days with my TR25 1-6x with the fiber optic cover open 1/4 of the way, and I have my flannel hanging on a 19” W x 23” L torso silhouette @ 188 yards/171 meters. This first pair was taken at 1430 on an extremely bright, sunny day.

Next pair is from the same day just before dusk at 1945:

Finally, took these really a couple of mornings ago around 1030 following a quick snow squall and, just focusing on the hill behind my property (range to the crest from me is about 330 yards):
