Format change coming for WA concealed pistol license
« on: May 11, 2012, 12:03:50 PM »
Those of us living in WA are familiar with the size of the CPL, the darn thing is an annoyance because it is difficult if not impossible to jam into a wallet.  >:(

The Licensing department will soon be trimming the little bugger to fit conveniently into a wallet, even after it's been laminated!  ;D

((For those nonresidents, WA is a pretty good state for CPLs.  I've helped a couple of non-residents take care of this. Can't do it by mail, though. ))

Florida's license, complete with photo (WAshington's is just a piece of paper) is the same size as a driver's license and it is terrific.

Q. What does YOUR carry license look like? Does it fit properly in a wallet?

How would you improve it  (aside from doing away with it?  ;) )

In Missouri the CCW permit is simply an endorsement on your Driver License. There is also a Nondriver License, used for identification purposes by those who do not drive, that can carry the endorsement.

There is no permit required to have a concealed weapon inside your vehicle.

Utah's is the same as a Driver's License;
Laminated with Photo
Maybe a big o'huge @$$ permit is better
If your CCP is big enough, everyone will know, there's a real go chance you're armed ! ! !
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

The WA CPL has nothing on the back side, so I folded it in half before laminating it.  It sits in my wallet right behind my driver's license.

I'm in Florida and as mentioned it is the same size as my DL. In fact my CCL and DL sit back to back in my wallet.

AZ changed ours a few years ago, MUCH nicer looking than they used to be. This is my new one.

What's funny is that it still says the "privilege" of carrying a concealed weapon is granted...when we have the right to do so enshrined in AZ law. The law change came after the card format change. ;) It does let me go out to eat at Olive Garden and skip the background check at the gun shop, plus reciprocity in several states.

If WA opted to give us neat, pretty cards like that, I'm sure they'd have to raise the price of a permit by at least $10.

$52.50 for 3 years here.  That's for the initial application.  About $20 goes for the FBI fingerprint check.  Renewals are for 3 years with $20 knocked off.

What does that symbol mean on the upper right hand side of the permit? I have a 2022 non-resident Arizona permit and it doesn't have that on it.

Looks like a hologram to help validate the permit by making it hard to counterfeit.

Hologram will make it harder but if there is a will to counterfeit someone will find a way
