I mean, I can get on any other gun forum in the country, (no other countries allowed, either), but this one keeps getting blocked. The worst thing is I am the boss on the night crew...oh well.
So, we have all heard of the wonderful hero in Indiana - without delving too deep into the great kids actions, I have seen it proposed for shooting drills in two different fashions. Also, the distance was confirmed by a retired LE friend of mine as 43 yards - we'll rope that down to 40 for simplicity.
The first, the Eli Drill, is a static drill on a multiple person range. Standard B-27 target at 40 yards, shooter starts facing the target with hands at sides. To reflect the skinny nature of the murdering scumbag, you CAN tape up the sides of the target, and anything outside the 8 ring on the sides do not count. Alternative is IDPA target. Sidearm must be your regular concealed carry pistol, or what you WOULD use for CCW if you don't carry yet, (Why not? Do it), under whatever normal every day concealing garment you use - if you don't wear a photographers vest everywhere, don't use it on this one. At the buzzer, draw and fire 10 rounds, within fifteen seconds. To pass you must have 8 hits with at least one 9 or 10 ring/A Zone hit.
For a dynamic range, Eli's Nightmare, set up three obstacles forward of the 40 yard position, tall enough that they can be easily seen. These simulate innocent bystanders - be creative. Shooter starts facing the target at the 40. At the buzzer, draw and fire one round. Shooter then moves forward between the obstacles while shouting "get out, get out", and close to 35 yards. Same time constraints, 15 seconds for 10 rounds, same scoring level.
Bonus level for either - start with holding a big cookie in your primary hand - Eli was at a cookie shop when it went down.
When I get my gumption up my son and I will take our CZ P-10s down to the range and at least try the static drill. It is funny how we've been told our whole lives to not practice beyond 25 yards, and there is the unicorn.
Observations, suggestions?
