With all of the talk about the Shadow 2, I ordered a Shadow 1 configured with CZC’s optic plate pattern milled into the slide. To say I’m happy with it is an understatement.
Earlier in the year, I bought a P10F OR to shoot in some local matches. Close-in vision is going so added a red dot. The gun is accurate and I’ve progressed pretty well. On the other hand, going from DA/SA to a striker wasn’t an easy transition. After 28 years of carrying and shooting a DA/SA duty weapon, the P10, while preferred to other plastic strikers, just wasn’t any fun. Trigger breaks different. Just don’t like plastic, even covered with talon grips and extra grip tape. Never felt natural. Was considering sending in a 75 BD to be milled, but happened across this on CZ Custom’s website:
https://czcustom.com/new-firearms/cz-pistols-factory/cz-75-shadow-optic-rds-no-plate.htmlOrdered on a Thursday and had it the following Wednesday. In the meantime, I caught COVID for the second time at work and couldn’t get to the range for a few more days.
The gun has a soul.
I also have to say that CZC’s plate system is a much better setup than the factory OR systems out there. The CZC plate slides into notches, tongue and groove fashion that provides for a very secure optics mounting platform. The screws that hold the plate don’t have to do any work other than to keep plate indexed. The plate is held by the grooves, fore and aft of the optic during recoil.
This is a factory gun without modification. The pre-B sear and slide make for a much improved DA and SA trigger over a standard SP-01 or 75B.
Could only run 100 rounds, but the gun will outshine me.
10 round 15 yard sightings group with 147 grain Berry’s RN over 4.5 grains BE-86. The two misses are on me.
Yes, the Shadow 2 may be great, but for a 10+ year old design, the standard Shadow is an excellent value.
