Hello folks,
I traded one of my old K-38’s for an SP-01. Wonder if some of you could tell me if the type of sights it has are stock versions? It has a red serrated fiber optic front sight pinned in place, and a black serrated ramp rear with two hex head screws holding it in place. I have a 75D from the custom shop, so I wasn’t too surprised when this SP-01 had the same exact problem as the 75D had, point of bullet impact is several inches below point of aim.
The custom shop sold me a new rear sight, correcting my problem. Kind of them :(
My question is why does CZ knowingly send these guns out with sights that are so far off? Yes, at 10 yards it isn’t an issue, but 25 and 50 yard targets? Sure, aim for the head and maybe impact the groin area.
Of course, this particular gun appears to have had several parts swapped out. The trader told me it had been Cajunized but he bought it, found out it was shooting 1 foot left of point of aim, and 6 inches low, and lost interest. He was upfront about the inability to zero the sights, so I made the trade.
I have a sight pusher, so getting it centered to the bullseye was easy. Nothing is going to help the elevation other than a new set of sights. The red fiber optic has to go, and the fixed rear sight will be much better if I can find an adjustable rear sight. I prefer black on black with no fiber optic. A nice serrated Patridge front and a good quality adjustable rear sight package would be nice. Anybody have a recommendation?
All suggestions are greatly appreciated. I have put three hundred rounds of handloads from 115 to 150 grain lead bullets, without issue. Other than the sight elevation problem.
I suspect that the Hammer, Recoil Spring, Bushing and probably some springs have been swapped out. Mainly because of the baggie with the original equipment it came with. Unfortunately, the sights are pathetic.
The IMGR pics will need to be selected and drug left to right to see the gun’s features. I do not know how to crop in IMGR.
Thanks for the help!
Hajji

Look at Dawson Precision.  They have both fiber and black sights.  You have an SP-01 so you need a 0.06 deep dovetail front sight not the standard 75 series front sight.

  • I've shot the rest, I now own the best - CZ
Not sure FO sights are for really precise shooting.  Easy to see, great for fast shooting?  Probably.

I don't prefer FO front sights at all, but I have them on two or three pistols that were cut for red dot sights.  I seldom use the back up sights so I don't worry about the "look" of the FO front sights.

I do know that I like green FO front sights better than orange/amber.  Easy to see, but more subdued/less glaring to my eyes.

Shooting low/high?  Usually heavier bullet/lower velocity ammo/that recoils more shoots higher on paper for the same point of aim vs. lighter/faster bullets.

I see adjustable rear sights for sale for CZ pistols but have no idea what the better/best brands/models might be.

Typed more but for some reason my laptop lets me type a couple sentences and then erases them and moves the cursor somewhere else in the post.  I'll be back.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I bought a set of all-black Dawson Precision adjustable rear and Patridge front sights using the link from tdogg.
Just to satisfy my curiousity, I removed the front fiber optic sight, and replaced it with a shorter version that was in a baggie stuck under the foam in the CZ pistol box. Evidently, a previous owner had replaced the original equipment sights, but left the originals in the box. After looking at pics on the Cajun Gunworks web site, it appears this guy also installed the pro package, larger dual safety levers, CGW barrel bushing, grips, etc.
The gun shoots much closer to POA at 25 yards now. I believe the new adjustable sights will work just fine, but the fiber optics have got to go.
This older Bullseye shooter prefers a Bomar type sight picture and functionality.

Hopefully those work for you.   They look tall to me (like suppressor sights).  I generally put the rear sight I like on the gun and then order the correct front sight after shooting and figuring out the poi vs poa difference.

How's the trigger feel?  Does it have the stock hammer or the race hammer?  Hopefully it's a shooter.

Cheers,
Toby

Looking at the pics it has a race hammer and an 85 trigger. Also Hajji I do believe the thumb safeties are the original ones. Dawson has good sights I have them on my CZs and 1911s.

Dawson adjustable rear and serrated Patridge front sight arrived. The front site was a breeze to install. The rear took a few tries between filing the rear dovetail with a fine flat file. Pushed it to center with my MGW sight pusher. Sighted in today, took away my excuses for a miss. Dead center hits to point of aim. I am happy that I bought the MGW sight pusher a couple of years back. It is much easier than the hammer and punch method.
Thanks for the suggestions!
