Shadow 2 SA vs. TS2
« on: November 28, 2022, 10:32:03 PM »
What are the differences between the Shadow 2 SA and the Tactical Sport 2 and does it justify the extra cost? And is the TS that much better?   I want a premium range gun just for the pleasure of shooting.  To date the as closest gun I've owned that might compare is a Walther PPQ.

The shadow 2 is smaller frame than the TS2.  The magazine capacity is lower on the shadow 2 at 17 rds vs the TS2 at 20 rds.  The TS2 has different magazines than the other 75 variants.  If you have other CZ's, then that may factor in the decision.  If you have small hands the Shadow 2 might be a better option and vise verse if you have large hands.

The actions are similar but not identical.  The TS2 will have a more crisp feeling due to the sear cage stabilizer springs and race hammer.  The TS2 has a longer sight radius and will feel lighter in recoil due to the heavier gun.  Does that equal more accurate or better?

You should handle both before purchasing if possible.

Cheers,
Toby

Pretty much summed it up ^. I will add The TS2 trigger is slightly lighter as well. For some the extended mag release on the TS2 is too long and gets in the way, it has not been a problem for me. Shadow 2 has an adjustable rear sight.  Both feel like cheating but I will give a slight edge to the TS2, less recoil, better trigger, longer sight radius.
But as stated they are an investment and if you could go try both before you buy.

Is the TS2 frame really that much bigger? I want a 40cal and the TS2 cones in 40.

It is noticealby bigger. The only reason they make the TS in 40 is so that USPSA can shoot Major Power factor in Limited class. If you like 40 and the TS go for it, but most people will look for 9mm in TS.

That's funny because I'd say the only caliber to purchase a TS variant in is 40 cal so you can shoot limited major.  Different strokes for different folks!

I wonder what the overall sales numbers are for the TS variants by caliber?

9mm volume is massively larger than the 40. While you're right to point out that 40 is the way to go for serious limited competition many people just like the cheaper ammo. What's even more common is people that don't intend to compete at all and just like to shoot them.
