Up until recently, I would have also suggested DAA for a belt and holster.  They make fine products when they are fitted properly to the gun/guns.

Due to the design of the Alpha X holster only grabbing the trigger guard, you have to ensure it is properly fitted.  When I first purchased the Alpha X (2018), I ran into issues trying to fit both my TSO's to the same holster (this is because CZ's frames are more variable according to Saul).  I was able to work with DAA and get to a spot where they both were acceptably retained but not perfect.  Fast forward to last year, I wore out my Alpha X holster insert causing the gun to bind upon draw.  It was actually a safety issue as it would initially allow for the draw to start then would hang up and I'd rip my hand off the gun during the draw, then the gun would fall to the ground (thankfully only that happened in dryfire).  I was forced to replace the holster insert and I couldn't get the same level of retention across both my TSO's.  I tried mixing and matching parts from my 3 inserts (one new and two from original troubleshooting) but there was too much play and the gun was "loose" in the holster.  I though it was OK because the holster has a lock and I rarely run before drawing in competition.  That all changed when I nearly dropped my gun at Nationals (should have been DQ'd when reviewing the video).  The start position was behind a wall and the first shooting position was in front of the wall.  Upon the start signal, I did a little shimmy with my hips as I moved toward the left and the gun fell out of the holster as I grabbed it.  I literally grabbed the dust cover of the gun and drew the gun with the muzzle pointed at the ground.  This all happened in a split second and the RO didn't stop me as I corrected the situation and I finished the course of fire (wasn't his fault, the course design forced him to be farther back and he didn't have a great view of the situation).  I was completely confused as to what just happened and I didn't understand how I drew my gun holding onto the dust cover?  Only after reviewing the video did I see what happened.  I haven't reached out to DAA but I intend on purchasing the muzzle support rod and hopefully that fixes my loose holster arrangement.

I use there racer line of mag pouches.  They also have been great up until the same nationals, I caught my rear most pouch on my vehicle door latch when we drove to the upper stages at CMP.  It broke the hangar and I was forced to finish the match with my last magazine in my back pocket.  I rarely need this magazine but carry it for when the gun jams, or I fumble a mag change, etc...  They do sell replacement parts but had it been a primary mag pouch, it would have been a more dire situation forcing me to reconfigure my holster and hope it was set the same while shooting nationals.  Not ideal.  I have yet to purchase a replacement, I stole a hangar off my other rig.  DAA does sell aluminum mag pouches but they are at a premium over the cost of the plastic racer pouches.  You'll have to decide if the cost is worth it.

Finally, I'd look at making a ratchet belt.  I have made two of them now and they are great.  I use the DAA competition belt and add a ratchet buckle and place it at the rear leaving the front of the belt clear for gear placement.  You get the flexibility of gear placement, with a belt you can tighten around your waist.  It's only drawback is if you ever have to start on your back or leaning with your back against something.  These situations are the exception not the norm.  Here is the outfit I purchased my ratchet components from:  https://m2inc.biz/product-category/all-products/aluminum-buckles/1-00%e2%80%b3-aluminum-components/.  There are kits from various competition shooting outfits as well.  DIY pictures here: https://forums.brianenos.com/topic/296730-racheting-gun-belt/

I'm not sure what I'd go with now if I was starting from scratch?  I would look closer at CR Speed or maybe Guga Ribas?  If you go DAA make sure you are happy with the retention right away.  Maybe the TS2 frames are more consistent?

Cheers,
Toby

Well I just went to Double Alpha to look for the spare parts and they have a new holster called the Flex Holster.  I'd look long and hard at that if you are serious about competing.  It totally fixes my issues of "loose" fit holsters and I would most likely purchase that if I was starting from scratch.  It is completely flexible and you can configure it to run different guns over time.  Super design!

Cheers,
Toby

Well they also now have the Alpha XIP mag pouches.  It has an aluminum hangar and polymer pouch!  Best of both worlds.  I'd be purchasing those if I was starting out from scratch.

DAA really does continuously improve their product line.  It's not a coincidence that my issues have been addressed by their model lineup improvements.  They are very involved in the shooting community and it shows they understand the needs of shooters.

Cheers,
Toby

Love Double Alpha products.  Was running Bladetech belt and Ghost pouches for a while, but the DAA quality is noticeably better.  For holster, i run the Racer X on my TSO, and love it.  Make sure to get the thigh pad add-on though
