Please explain this to me
« on: February 06, 2023, 11:12:40 AM »
Yesterday I shot my P-01 with remanufactured 115g (Buffalo brand) and S&B 124g. To my surprise, the remanufacured ammo seemed more accurate, unless there's another factor I'm missing. I'm still a poor shot at 7 yards. The first target (tighter/more accurate grouping) is from the remanufactured 115g and the second is the S&B 124g. 30 rounds in each one - 7 yards. What else can it be besides the ammo? Actually, I shot the reman ammo last so can't blame it on fatigue. Blatantly different. Thanks.

I have days where I can one hole an entire mag at 20 yds and the next mag I'll blow it and it looks like a tight shotgun pattern with the same ammo. Could be you and it could be your gun likes the 115gr better. I'm betting it's more to do with your hand than the ammo since 7yds isn't a distance where accuracy should be off that much.
I'd try both brands from a GOOD rest at least 20-30yds and see what result you get.

Will do. Thanks. (Each target was three 10rd mags.) I know it's easy to change habits within one session.

Guns are funny.

My CZ 9MM pistols shoot Federal 115 grain FMJ better than Winchester 115 grain FMJ (or Remington for that matter.)

My M&P 2.0 5" FDE 9MM shoots Winchester 124 grain FMJ NATO better than anything else I've shot in it.  My CZ's shoot terrible groups (compared to the Federal and my own 115 grain hollow point reloads) with the Win. Nato ammo.

None of my CZ's do as well with 147 grain ammo (Win. 147 grain hollow points or a variety of different bullet/different powder combination reloads).

But, it should be easy to shoot a group with one brand/type of ammo on a target, shoot a different target with another brand/type of ammo (not 30 rounds by 10, for starters) and then repeat the first ammo, then the second ammo and do it on different targets for each group so you get a better idea of what you, your pistol and the ammo are really doing.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I have 3 targets total (30 ea) of the S&B 124g which all have the same lousy grouping. And the 4th target is the 115g reman. I'll try that next time.. 10 rounds per target. First target of one brand,  2nd target of another brand. Do this maybe 3-4 times.

I wouldn't mind mixing-up 2 brands in the same mags, only IF I could identify which target holes were from which brands. I guess that would better determine if it's my hand movement or the ammo.

EDIT: What I can do is put up some 1" sticky dots and aim different ammo (from the same mag) at respective dots. This way, changing habits won't be so much as a factor, aside from shifting aim a few inches.

This is one big reason so many people "reload".
In God we trust; On 'Starting Load' we rely.
