CQB bayo?
« on: February 11, 2023, 10:19:46 AM »
CSA says the bayo won't fit because of bbl length, but what is the fitment issue? Is the handle too long to get it started on the lug? Is the FH too big to clear? Says the bipod will fit, so I'm thinking it's the handle.

I think it's a clearance issue between the gas block/lower handguard and the FSB's bayonet lug...  Remember Vz58 bayonets slide on from rear to front instead of from front to rear like many.

There are clamp on M16-style bayonet lugs for the Vz58 available that I would think should work for the CQB model, and are designed for standard profile Vz58 barrels (also options for AK, etc., that might work too) provided your muzzle device has A2 flashhider outer diameter -- but double-check your bayonet's needed length vs your rifle and muzzle device, and also know the Vz58-specific clamps are probably a good quarter pound of solid steel, so a hefty proposition that negates pretty much all weight savings from CQB's shorter barrel...

Here, and IIRC this is also the manufacturer: https://www.detonics.com/en/product/bayonet-lug-for-vz-58-43

Yes - because it slides on from the REAR, the VZ 58 bayonet will likely NOT work on a shortened barrel VZ.

I was entertaining the idea of trimming the handle until it fits, but than thought "Why the hell do I want a Bayonet?" lol

Early bayonets (first two gens?) weren't full tang and would be perfect for cutting down.  Bayonets are for when you run out of ammo or want to do a less-than-lethal show of force during martial law or POW containment (especially if you don't trust the locals to have live ammo) -- look at all the various uprisings that occurred in Warsaw Pact countries during the Cold War.

:o Ooops, forgot to mention that bayonets are also good for zombies.  O0
