TS2 questions
« on: January 15, 2023, 07:53:27 PM »
I’m looking at purchasing a used tS2. What extra parts should be in the case when purchased new? Extra springs? Buffers? Etc

I'm not sure what comes with the TS2.  Here is an unboxing youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY8YAP6h0ZE

In the TSO box was three magazines, cleaning rod and brush, two recoils springs (11lb and 13lb), two main springs (13lb and 16lb), allen wrenches and torx wrench, an assortment of buffers (thin and thick), and the gun.

It sounds like the TS2 doesn't come with the spare springs or buffers.

Cheers,
Toby

Hi,
So what do the buffers do and how useful are they to the casual shooter? And can you buy them as spare parts?
Thanks,
            Mark

The buffers soften the impact between the metal parts. I don’t use them in my TSO. You can buy the buffers from the CZ store, BSPS, Eric Grauffel shop, IPSC store etc.

For you TS2 owners. Are your pistols finicky after 400-500 rounds? As in they like to be run clean…. My Shadow 2 can be run dirty and will never fail me.

I've got about 800ish rounds thru mine and with just minor cleanings it has run perfectly (better than I can shoot...trying to rectify that  ;) )

Yes, they like to run clean. They are made so tight that getting too much gunk in the action may make some things not work properly. Examples:

* when I shoot too many rounds without cleaning, the trigger bar starts to rub the frame
  * it makes the trigger return sometimes get a little hangup in the middle (nothing serious, it will go back, 1/1000 times i give it a little push from the behind)
  * it can be "fixed" by polishing the trigger bar, I guess
  * this is also caused by the overtravel screw not being screwed all the way in - check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcV0TFkxRCo
* if there's really too much gunk in the frame, you may get the "sloppyness" of the slide
  * I mean the lockup won't be so snappy
  * it can cause a failure to feed

I just clean it after every range trip. My range trip is like 200-300 rounds through the TS2 among other guns, so I think it's appropriate. I have a gun cleaner that works like an oven cleaner - it uses really high pressure, I just spray down everything with it and wipe it down (aside from the bore, obviously, there I use a foam). I didn't believe it at first, but the gun is clean, no need for scrubbing (maybe aside from the extractor, feed ramp and the breech face). If you get the appropriate method, chemicals etc. - gun cleaning won't be a pain. I clean the TS2 in 10-15 minutes (because the foam takes 10 mins to get everything from the bore).

Guns like these are not your typical duty guns like glocks or other polymer wonder nines. These types of guns can be left uncleaned for a long period of time (not that I'm recommending it) - it's because of the higher tolerances, looser fits etc.

As for the difference between SH2 and TS2 - I'm not sure. I don't currently own a SH2 (planning to get it in the near future), it may be just a "looser" unit etc. Check out the many guides on this forum on polishing the internals! I didn't polish everything (yet), but doing this to the slide rails, feed ramp  made the gun work more smoothly and I think more reliable.

I think it really depends on what type of ammo you are shooting?  My TSO's could go quite a while without cleaning.  Generally I would deep clean a firearm prior to major matches but not much in-between.  I reload and my reloads are much cleaner than cheap dirty plinking ammo.

Ask Joe L how often he used to clean his CZ's.  The action is nearly the same on standard CZ's and TS variants.

Cheers,
Toby
