Tool that came with new CZ 75 D PCR
« on: February 12, 2023, 01:19:26 PM »
My new PCR came with a tool that I do not know exactly what it’s for. It’s shaped like an Allen wench. The short leg is a Philips head which is for the grip screws. The long leg has a long taper to it resembling the punch Cajun Gunworks sells for removing certain pins. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t want to get too heavy handed with a hammer on the bent portion.

I’ve watched several Utube unboxing videos hoping to learn exactly what the tool is for but none that I’ve watched had the tool nor the foam cutout for it in the box.

I would appreciate if someone could tell me just what the long tapered portion is for.

Thanks

Odd, none of my new PCR's came with such a tool. Only one of my boxes have a little slit in the foam on the bottom right side, but there nothing in it.

It is for removing the grips and the punch is for pushing out the slide stop. One of mine came with it as well. I left it in the box and I'll stick with using a proper screwdriver and punch to work on mine.

The sharp taper of the long leg looks to be similar to the tool that CGW offers to remove the trigger pin.

Thanks for the replies

My P-01 came with that tool, but not my PCR.  Maybe because the P-01's slide release/stop lever is more recessed and harder to remove but it does have a small dimple and I think that's what the pointed side of the tool is for. The PCR slide stop is more protruded without a dimple so it's easier to snap-out with a flat object. Just my thoughts.

EDIT: Strange you got it with your PCR. Has the slide stop lever changed (the side you push-out to field strip) to something like the P-01 with the dimple? Maybe the tool can used as a starter punch?

Something else I might add.  My PCR didn't come with grip lock washers like the P-01. Someone said to check to see if they're embedded in the rubber.... nothing there.

The slide stop on my 2009 PCR is the same as the parts on both my 2021 made guns but strangely only one of the newer guns came with the tool which is about as useless as the lug wrenches automakers ship with the spare tire in your car.

My PCR has the protruded slide stop pin with no dimple. The left side of the slide stop is extended (protrudes out more) out unlike the slide stop of my Omega which is basically flat. The PCR’s slide stop makes a nice go pedal.

Joe,
Are you referring to the thickness of the slide stop or the distance from the frame, like if there were a gap, making the slide stop to extend even farther perhaps?

I’m referring to the thickness of the slide stop. I’m surprised that the slide locks back after last round while I’m applying a good amount of downward pressure on the slide stop. Today, I ran 5 full magazines through it with no issues while doing it nor no problems yesterday. I tried it with another handgun and the slide would not lock back after last round.

My PCR must have a strong slide stop spring. Lol

It's the magazine spring that locks the slide back on the last round with upward pressure. The slide stop spring in the frame is there to keep the slide stop DOWN when a loaded mag is in place so the slide doesn't lock back during firing. I wouldn't make a habit of riding the slide stop while firing or you may cause the slide to lock open in situation where you don't want it to happen.

You are correct. My 74 year thinking cap wasn’t on straight when I made that wrong headed comment.

How come it doesn't come in every case? My BD and PCR didn't come with it.

That's a question for CZ-USA. Bought 2 PCR's new in 2021. One had the tool one did not. Could not care less it's a junky piece of swag really.

New PCR, no tool included.
Maybe they ran out of foam with storage slots ;D
