75D Recoil Spring Question

I just picked up a 1999 75D Compact and in the process of replacing the hammer spring, firing pin spring and recoil spring. I purchased all of the parts from CGW including the 16lb green flat wire recoil spring and the 14lb rd round wire spring. I noticed that the 16 lb flat wire spring is over a third longer than the 14lb round wire spring and was rather difficult to rack the slide once installed compared to the original spring in the gun and when compared to my P07 and P229. I am concerned that reg 115g ammo might have some issues.

What are the pros and cons of each spring - 16lb vs 14lb?

If you are concerned that the 16lb flat wire recoil spring may cause issues with your reg 115g ammo, you may want to consider switching to a 14lb round wire spring.

 It may improve the overall handling of your gun, while still providing you with the reliable cycling that you need for accurate and consistent shooting.

I’m new to the forum, first time on a forum, so I’m just doing a little testing of how this works. Joined because I too just bought a used 75D, and looking for some info on changing out recoil springs, recoil guide, etc. But I noticed that it looks like you put the same sights on yours as I just did. Are those the TruGlo TFX pro’s?

Welcome to the forum. Yes, the sights are the TFX pro and they are excellent. I have both the 16lb and 14ob recoil springs and currently running the 14lb recoil spring. I am also running the 15lb hammer spring with the CGW firing pin spring. I do have a CGW 13lb hammer spring and their extended firing pin.

Big fan of the TFX pro’s myself. Gotten a little older, and now that I have to wear reading glasses, it’s a lot easier to pick up the fiber optics with the orange highlight on the front sight. Bought my 75D to be my EDC. Definitely replacing the polymer guide rod with a stainless one, but got some research to do on changing out my springs and whatnot, based on what I learn here. I've seen claims that a flat wire spring will last 3 to 5 times longer than the round wire springs.  Can't say it's so, just read it on a website that sold springs.

I have factory recoil springs in my CZ75 Compacts and had no issues with light recoiling Federal and Winchester 115 grain FMJ plinking ammo.  The normal carry load is a 115 grain hollow point that recoils a lot more and moves a lot faster and that factory spring works for both.
