Utica Fire Arms coach gun
« on: August 04, 2023, 01:38:27 PM »
Greetings. I just came into possession of a Utica Fire Arms coach gun, 12ga, 18" barrels, side-by-side, double hammers/triggers. Serial number 37550. I am trying to determine its approximate age, and if is a replica or older. I see that CZ makes replica coach guns, but I do not find a way to determine when CZ started making them, and if there is a link between Utica and CZ.  Any advice on where to look?

Edit to Add: Do not shoot modern loads through this. It was designed for much lower pressure black powder loads. If you decide to shoot it, then do some research to assure you do it safely.

As I recall those are pretty old and probably 1880-1940. I think your serial puts it on the earlier side of that. Value appears to be pretty low, last I saw was something like $200-$250 for one in mint condition. If rusty or otherwise not in great shape maybe $0 or $50. Some quick googling shows they were one of the many guns with a name other than the actual manufacturer, sold in hardware stores and other similar places. Looks like they were made by Crescent Fire Arms Company and they made stuff under something like 400+ names.

No relation to the CZ guns produced by Huglu.
