CZ 75b and Winchester White Box ammo
« on: August 16, 2023, 06:29:39 PM »
I am having issues with my CZ 75b and Winchester White box ammo with the WIN headstamp. The problem is that the case will not fully extract to be ejected before another round is stripped from the magazine to be loaded causing a jam. I don’t have this issue with other brands of ammo with the WW, FC, RP, GFL or other headstamps. I thought that I had ejector and/or ejector spring issues but don’t experience this with other brands. Anyone else have these issues with WIN headstamped ammo in your CZ 75b?

First of All

Welcome from Georgia.

Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the sticky posts in the 'New Members' Forum and also the 'Important Information' sub-section.

Now to the Question

• It's been 20 years since I shot WWB. Back in 2000/2001 it was considered some of the better ammo for break-in. My question/suggestion would be have you tried to the "plunk & spin test" with the barrel removed from the slide?

You can find the test detailed here:
https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=114239.0

• Also, how many rounds has this gun fired? Is it brand new or is it well broken-in?

Regards

I’ve never had an issue. Of course I’m shooting a 1996 Turkish Army contract over run and WWB from 2007 (Thanks Obama!)

Remove the extractor and clean it out, then replace the spring with a +10 extractor spring from Wolff. I had the exact same issue with my 2003 75b.

Depending on what grain you're shooting, sounds like the ammo is underpowered. I shoot their 124gr NATO and have never had a problem, but that's loaded to nearly +P pressure. CZs are sprung pretty heavy from the factory, and it sounds like your recoil spring is too strong for that ammo. When it does eject, how far away do the shells land? Per CGW, the optimal distance is 6'-8'. If the gun is barely kicking them out, you may need to swap the recoil spring. Or, just don't shoot that ammo.

Thanks so much to all that responded. A bit of research reveals that my issue is the same that Naga was experiencing back in May of 2017 on this forum. As long as I don’t shoot WW White box, my CZ 75b runs fine. I’ll save that ammo for my BHP. Thanks again.

This may come off as flip, but it sounds like you have learned nothing useful.

Hopefully that is just a range gun and you just use it for plinking.

You are on target. It is a range gun that I have had for years. Bought it new in 1994.

Complaints with WWB are quite common. Some guns eat it with no issues while others of the same brand choke on it. The QC on really cheap plinking ammo such as WWB can be lacking and you can even have a lot of the stuff that works well for you and ammo from another lot may give you nothing but trouble.

I'd say it's a low pressure round.

I bought a box or two of it years ago.  Shot it in a couple guns.  Really blackened the area around the ejection port and the side of the brass cases almost 1/2 down/back from the case mouth towards the rim/bottom of the case.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

So call CGW or Wolff Gun Spring and get a 14# recoil spring to install in it. Target ammo doesn't need the factory recoil spring.

14# ordered. Hope this is the cure. Old gun is 29 years old. Old spring probably weakened with age. I’m not as strong as I was 29 years ago either.

You need to check your math. No way that gun is that old. That’s like just 10 years ago… right?
