RC tech Progressive Recoil Springs - installing
« on: August 25, 2023, 01:05:19 PM »
Hi!!

Just bought a "RC tech Progressive Recoil Springs", but I can not figure out which way the spring should be installed on the guide rod.

Anyone here who knows??

Thanks
Laban

I haven't seen these before.  I don't think it matters which way the spring is installed.

That said, I would install such that the tighter coil side (firmer side of spring) is closest to the barrel peanut.  This is the side of the spring that will move less.  Since the barrel is not moving and the slide is moving you would want to put the spring to match the movement.

Let us know how it performs and if you feel any difference in recoil.

Cheers,
Toby

When I looked for that information, it's usually the tighter side on the end of movement.
I install them tighter side to barrel lug.
I felt no difference vs. regular spring, but that is me.

tdogg and DoronP;

Thank you for the answers  :)

I'll test it at the range during the week-end and tell you how it performed.

Both of you answers' were correct. Using the tighter coil side close to the barrel lug worked perfectly. When I assembled it the other way it didn't look right :)

Thank you so much!

Not that it means anything comparing CZs to M&Ps but the Shield pistol have a dual spring recoil spring assembly and the smaller diameter spring is to the rear on those, too.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
