After shooting so many rounds through Ruger Max-9, Glock 19 and 43X, Glock 36, Shield 9 & 45, shooting the CZ-83 is like shooting a 22! What a joy to shoot, especially. because it shoots so well.  This is a quote from a shooter BonJ on the CZ Talk forum:

"It was a great gun, I wish CZ would reintroduce it. The gun that God made. Perfection in ergonomics, caliber, weight, capacity. recoil, trigger pull, has only a 1/8" take up and 1/8" in creep. The double action pull is also amazingly lite. No other gun ever made is as perfect. This gun will never jam, no matter what type or brand of ammo you use."

I think is safe to say that my CZ-83 will be my main Retired LEO EDC weapon. 13+1 of .380 +P  (300 ft lbs ME) is substantial.  After all, 9mms out of the short barreled 9s only give ME in the lower 300s, anyway.

At 71, I'm not out there interdicting armed robbers, but strictly personal defense.

My Max-9 will be my go to for sticking in the pocket of my cargo shorts for quick trips in the summer.

Finally got my Wolff 16 lb recoil spring and the +5% mag springs.  When Carrying it, I'll use the 16 pound spring (standard is 14.5) because I will be using. .380 +P ammo: either Atomic .380 (90 grain at 1100 FPS - 241 ft lbs ME from a CZ or Walther PP) or Buffalo Bore (90 grains at 1200 fps 300 ft lbs ME from CZ or Walther PP)

Now that I know it will function with Atomic (I did two mags full), I won't I shoot it any more for practice, but I'll stick to standard velocity stuff to be kind to the weapon.  My last, I used the 16 pound spring, even when shoot standard velocity.

I was surprised that the Atomic did not feel particularly amped up compared to standard, but I have seen the chrono reports and it does give 1100 FPS.  Supposedly they have some proprietary powder and loads worked out that keep it SAAMI spec?  When I have used Buffalo Bore .380 in the past, it was definitely hotter.  For now, I'll stick with Atomic.  I have a bunch of Critical Defense and Gold Dot, also, for back up.

I have fired Critical defense 380 and 9x18 Mak from my prior 83s and 82s before, and they functioned 100%.
Same experience here with 9x18.

I just got my butt forward IWB CZ83 holster from Allen on ebay.  He used to be "Gun Glove Holsters" but killed the site and just sells on ebay now.  I used one for the CZ82 I picked up in Mississippi in 2011, and once again a couple years ago for a CZ83 I had.  It is the most comfortable IWB I have had, and I barely notice I am wearing it because the clip is not on top of the weapon like other IWBs, but rather behind it, making it thinner to wear.  I did replace the metal clip with a poly belt clip, as I tore a friend's leather car seat with the sharp metal clip on my last one.

My modification of the holster so it won't upholstery:
