16 1/2" barrel accuracy
« on: September 01, 2023, 08:22:34 AM »
I have not located a model with a 16" barrel to look at one, but I like the idea of the shorter rifle for 'window' access.  Those of you who own or owned a CZ with this 16" barrel, how do you feel about the accuracy?

Thanks !
Dave

With rimfires there are too many variables to give a solid answer. Theoretically all else being equal a 16 1/2-inch barrel should be more accurate than say a 26-inch barrel. The shorter barrel is stiffer and has less flex and vibration. But in the real world so much depends on each barrel's ammo preference, bedding and other potential accuracy obstacles that without shooting your barrel no one can say for sure.

thanks.  My bigger problem is finding dealers who have a variety of CZs in stock.  Some dealer distributors do not list these 16 1/2" models as being available to order.  The woes of gun shopping in 2023

I shoot a 16” and it is very accurate. If I upgraded the trigger and scope probably equal to my Varmint. I had the long 26” ?? model and then I remembered I don’t like iron sights or muzzles that poke into the next zip code. DavidS has the answer. Just buying and using premium ammo that works in your gun makes all the difference. All my guns are 452s.

I bought a CZ 457 American 22LR last year.  Not being a fan of "long" barrels I immediately had my gunsmith lop it of to 16 1/4".  Perfect package, I love it.  Compact, looks good and shoots great.  At 91 my eyeballs have probably slipped a bit over the years, but head shooting my grouse is still SOP.
