I've reached out to CZ for warranty support, but wanted to hear what you think about this. My p10m locked up while firing, slide is closed on a live round and trigger is non functional. I can move the slide back maybe 1/8 of an inch, but it hits something and won't go further. Trigger won't pull and also seems to be hitting something. What broke and any thoughts on how I might fix it, or at least get the round out before sending to CZ?
It's all covered
HERE.
The problem is not with your gun or with CZ. The problem is that
you don't understand 9x19 ammunition, and this ignorance has allowed you to buy
or handload ammunition that is out-of-spec, and therefore
extremely dangerous to you and everyone around you.
• If the gun had been allowed to fire out of battery you could have lost a finger and/or an eye. At the very minimum, such occurrences are good for a trip to the ER.
• As it is you have a
live round stuck half-way into the chamber.
First of all, you must exercise muzzle control at all times. Then, drop the mag. Finally, you need someone with a grip (hand strength) like iron to grasp the receiver with their left hand (all the while maintaining muzzle control), and then pound the rear of the hand grip with their open right palm. This is the most practical way to eject the offending round. [This works well on hammer-fired guns, but may be complicated by the inner workings of the striker-fired gun.]
>> This may be the most important part: At that point you can examine the round and determine if it was 1) the case or 2) the bullet causing the problem. Then you can use that knowledge to educate yourself (and others) about the dangers of not checking your ammo.
• The case can cause the problem because the 9x19 Luger chamber is tapered. And just like a
Morse Taper on a machine tool, any out-of-tolerance problem with the cartridge case greater than 0.001" can allow the cartridge to be wedged extremely tightly into the chamber.
• Or, your problem could be one of OAL. The CZ, like all eastern European guns, runs a short
leade (aka
freebore), and when you do not provide ammo made the correct dimensions, then the ogive of the bullet can be easily wedged into the beginnings of the rifling.
Only inspection for the ejected round will tell you the "root cause". It will be highly educational, and possibly a "lifesaver".
•• Now, your problem may be further complicated by the inner workings of the P10. I am not a gunsmith. My area of expertise is ammunition. Again, if you are going to buy OR handload 9mm ammo for a CZ, then you need to read the articles contained in the
Stickies at the top of the
Ammo & Handloading Forum. They are there for your education and protection.
•• Please share with us the name, type, brand, weight and stock number of the ammo you were using so that we can warn others.
Hope this helps.
