Safety Disengaging
« on: November 24, 2023, 01:12:23 PM »
Hello, recently installed and fitted a sear to my compact. The safety engages nice and snug and initially works in the SA mode with hammer all the way back. However if I pull several times on the trigger, the safety works its way down and disengages. Is this normal? Is there a fix?

Is it (safety and cam on the left side safety shaft) rotating fully into position under the sear?

I'm not sure if you can see the detent and spring in the left side of the frame or not (with the slide/barrel, etc off the frame) but if you can you may see the detent is not moving all the way forward to help hold the safety lever in the SAFE position.

Fitting a sear is a PITB process for me.  I did it once, took just over twenty times of try it, remove it, stone a bit of metal off, install it, try it and repeat.  Like you, I wanted it perfect.  Too much metal removed and you need a new safety lever.  Not enough and it may not work correctly.  After that first one I started buying the adjustable sears from CGW and those are super easy to get right.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Yes, the detent is holding the lever in place. I did just notice that the hammer is camming back some when the safety is engaged. I’m going to remove a slight bit more of metal and see if that helps.

Well, I stand corrected! Turns out the detent spring had compressed! Gave it a good stretching and the detent is now fully engaging. Thank you M1A4ME!!

Finally found this, again.  I have the hardest time remembering the company name.  I've bought a pack of springs from them, too.

Extra power thumb safety springs for the CZ75 models with thumb safeties.
