Pulled the trigger again…
« on: May 15, 2024, 01:14:14 PM »
Like the title says I picked up another Tanfo today. This one is just as nice inside and out. The trigger isn’t as crisp as the first one but everything appears to be as it should be. I’ll get a range report out as soon as possible.  It seems to be similar in a lot of ways with the first one I purchased. But you guys will know a LOT more about it than I would.

They had about 15 of these on the sales floor in varying condition. About 1/2 full size and 1/2 compact. The guy working the counter said they had about 12 more in the back. They also had a lot of surplus Beretta 92s in the next counter over.

Nice pistol. The only thing that really bothers me is the fact that they can’t come up with a better, more aesthetically pleasing solution to the import markings. They are ruining a lot of these guns with crappy import mark placement, in my opinion.

Indeed!!!! There are some sellers that I have dealt with online that are very discreet about their markings. These guys not so much. To make it worse these folks ruined a batch of pretty descent Hi Powers by putting huge markings on the slide and frame on the front right side of the gun. There were a couple gorgeous pieces that the salesman said he could have sold a NUMBER of times had they not marked them the way they did.

With the exception of the Import Markings, very nice looking Pistol and looking forward to reading how it shoots for you!  8)  :)

Wish more dealers around here would stock these. Then again, if they did, I might go broke.  ;)

When I picked up my Case Hardened Tanfo the guy at the ffl pawn shop kept wondering why there was no import markings. I told him not everything has them. My 1984 HK P7 and M13 both never had any marking but maybe because they were not any kind of surplus guns they were made for sales market. Not sure what the markings rules are.

I don't know why but the guns that say Combat Shooting Cohai that I have owned always shoot slightly better groups than the guns labeled Mossad.  I've owned several of each and I wind up keeping the Cohai and trading off the Mossad marked guns.  Is it just me???

Nope not just you. I was getting ready to post a range report but I’ll drop my comments here instead. The Mossad I picked up is a good shooter. Not quite as good as the Cohai but there is nothing wrong with it. The main difference to me is the trigger on the Mossad is almost 2lbs heavier. The other difference was that it shot low from the POA. I’ll either have to shoot a bit high with it or change the front sight.  Other than that the gun feels and shoots the same.

This is a group I shot at 15 yards. I’m stringing up and down a bit which is my fault of course. The other two pistols I had that day had much lighter triggers ( one of them was the Cohai ) so that may have contributed to my stringing.   Overall though, it shot well. No FTFs or FTEs
