CZ sp 01 to CZ shadow 2
« on: January 20, 2024, 03:00:49 PM »
I live in California ARRRRG

What I want is a CZ shadow 2 optics ready what I can get is a CZ SP01

If I start with the SP 01 how close can I get to the shadow 2

I would polish the trigger parts, install the Cajun Gun works pro package, Lock grips and have slide milled for a red dot (holosun 507 comp)

An optic option would be a plate mounted in the rear sight dovetail for the red dot

Any recommendation for better performance

The SP 01 has the double/single action Trigger would i be better to convert to single action only.

Not sure why you would want or need the double action on a gun that does not have the de cocker

I have the CZ P01 and did all the work on it

With CGW upgrades, the closest you will get is to a Shadow 1.

Yes go single action and go with the CGW race hammer kit.

Obviously remove the firing pin block!

If you want a heavier slide like the Shadow 2,then you might be able to adapt a CZ Tactical Sports top end or else the Bull Shadow top end.
The frame can be ' fit' to accept these slide assemblies.

Search this forum for examples already completed.

Hi, Dennis.  I'm also in CA...and my SP-01 (manual safety) is currently at CGW for a bunch of work, trying to get closer to what is not "available" in CA.  I initially looked into a red dot but found that no one (that I could identify) makes a plate based on the CZ 75 slot.  CGW would have had to machine a slot for an available plate or machined for direct-mount to the slide.

I subsequently - before finalizing my order with CGW - decided to go with a very-specific, non-optical sight which requires a Novak slot.  CGW has since machined a Novak slot into my slide.  [Suffice it to say, that cut is not a standard CGW option.]  If, at some point, I decide to go with a dot sight, EGW has several plates for the Novak slot - see https://www.egwguns.com/pistol-and-red-dot-mounts/mounts-by-firearm-brand-sight-cut/novak/

Can you get a Shadow 1 variant?  The main difference in action is the firing pin block.  The reset will be longer on the SP-01 vs any shadow variant.  The trigger will be nearly identical between the two otherwise (both being tuned).

Ergonomics are obviously different with the differences in the grip angle and slide designs.

Cheers,
Toby

No Shadow 1 or 2.
I had my SP-01 fitted with a CZC bull shadow slide that was cut for an optic.  Very close to Shadow 2.  Or for less money just have them mill the SP-01 slide for an optic.  The difference in competition is tiny, only makes a difference for M and GM level shooters.  A CZC or Cajunized SP-01 is better than a stock S2...of course the S2 can be upgraded as well.

Or if you have parents or children living in other states they can gift you non roster pistols.
If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.
