After 12 days away from the shooting range including a week worrying about the fires in the mountains of New Mexico, I tried to shoot the P-10S on Tuesday of this week.  I got in some trigger time, but couldn't shoot very well after the layoff.  I also had forgotten how to operate my cameras.  When I got home, after a day of sulking in shame, I decided I needed to return to the range and redeem myself.

So, this morning I returned to the 100 yard range, set up my cameras, got out the P-10S, shot 10 rounds and decided maybe shooting the P-10S wasn't a good choice after a two week layoff and that I needed to shoot the F or C, both of which I brought just in case I concluded I wasn't ready for the S.

So I got out the P-10C, cased up the P-10S, took 10 shots on the P-10S target, went 2 clicks down on the red dot, put up a fresh target, taped up the P-10S shotgun blast, and proceeded to shoot my P-10C, with a little more confidence than I had with the P-10S.

The first 10 rounds were not great but promising, and I was loving the trigger and feel of the 4" pistol.  So I shot 10 more rounds on Target 2, as shown in the one minute video below.

I think I'll be OK again next Tuesday, when I plan on shooting the C again.  Another good result with the C and I'll go the F, and THEN to the S...maybe.

This is fun, at least when I am shooting well.  It is never easy.

Thanks, AM.  Our house in Ruidoso is fine.  We were lucky.  Still holding off making a trip there until internet service is restored and the cleanup has progressed some.

As for shooting the pistols, eyesight and steadiness are the limiting factors after missing a week.  I've also let myself get a little dehydrated at times--walking the dog 3 miles then loading up and going to the range, which might be 90F and 85% humidity and sunny when I start shooting.  I tend to shoot better on days when I have a short or no walk before hitting the range.  I was so tired on Tuesday after walking and shooting that I couldn't hardly even watch my messed up range footage on my computer.  I was much better after some liquids and a nap.

I am hoping to shoot well next week.  I need to keep my skill level up so that I can shoot well at 200 when we go back to Ruidoso in a few weeks.  And I need to continue to use the cameras as often as possible so that I don't mess them up when I finally get to shoot 200 again.
