Rapid Fire RUZ model Vz-58
« on: October 17, 2024, 08:53:09 AM »
Just acquired this Vz-58 made from 1969 original parts kit built on a Rapid Fire (Troy, Ohio) milled receiver. Took it to range and it seamed to function fine except hitting WAY LEFT and the trigger pull was very stiff and heavy. I weighed it at average of 9Lbs 3oz.
Turned out the front sight base is canted slightly to the right, hence the far left POI. 13” at 50 yards)
The front sight post is already adjusted a bit to the left. Clearly I can adjust more one I get a pusher, but I hate the looks of a sight post all the way to the side in the base. I had to do that with my wasr-10 until I installed an AKM windage adjustable rear sight. Anybody know of a windage adjustable rear sight for the Vz-58’s?

Your adjustable AKM rear sight might fit (AK and vz58 sights are similar) in which case you might try an RPK adjustable rear sight, though the elevation might be different and adjustable with the front sight.

Otherwise, there are some pricy (and fragile) aftermarket sights from the Czech Republic:

Perfect. Thanks. I’ll pull out my original WASR sight to see if dimensions look the same. I’ll swap adjustable over if so. I’ll get another adjustable at some point.
Now to figure out this trigger problem.

Well, I wanted to post pictures of my fire co trip group in Tapatalk, but when I try logging in it gives me some big long error. Pictures would be most helpful to show the issue. Basically I think my striker is coming back far enough to drop down behind the lower shelf on the sear. Not sure why it does this. When I pull the trigger it fires fine except for the excessive force needed to pull.
Too bad I can’t load pictures on this website like I can on most others without having use a web service.
