Re-working a new CZ 457 American 22lr
« on: October 29, 2024, 03:09:49 AM »
Just picked up a new CZ 457 American 22lr in Left Hand, since my right hand 457 CZ is no longer ideal due to a sight problem in my right eye.  At 92 years of age it may be a challenge to adapt readily to being a left hand shooter, but I'm ready for it.  I chopped the barrel on my RH 457 to 16 1/2", which I consider much more ideal for my use.  I've found it be be every bit as accurate as the 24"+ barrel.  I intend to do cut the barrel on the new left hand 457 to 16 1/2" with either an 11 degree accuracy crown or recessed accuracy crown.  I'm also considering having the barrel threaded 1/2 x 28 for a Banish 22K-V2 silencer and want to know if this should have any effect on which crown to go with.  My thinking is that the recessed accuracy crown would be preferable, but I would like to have some of your learned thoughts on this.  Any and all welcome.  Unlike my old RH 457, this LH version has some nicely figured wood buried under the crappy "new" mud finish that CZ has adopted, but redoing that is a project for a little further down the road.  Any recommendations on a shop to cut, crown, and thread the barrel would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much for your input and have a great day!
