CZ-UB owner buys out BRNO, going to make shotguns
« on: October 21, 2006, 10:12:29 AM »
Looks like we will be getting some Czech made shotguns at some point in the future. BRNO filed for bankruptcy, and EXIMAT (the company that is the majority shares holder of CZ-UB) bought 100% of BRNO. Their goal is to re-vamp the shotgun line. This makes sense, as the CZ-USA shotguns are sold only here in the US. CZ currently does not make any shotguns , or even sells any shotguns through Huglu except for here. This will give them another piece of the complete firearms puzzle (pistols, rifles, shotguns, airguns). The only things they will be lacking are revolvers (again, DW is only sold through CZ-USA, not through the parent company) and muzzleloaders (very doubtful).

Interesting...

How long until products come out and even though they are known for good stuff, could they make a SG better than Huglu (not that they are all that), an experienced maker of SG's?

I have seen the press release as well and was wondering if they will bring out new designs or update some of the old BRNO shotguns.

At various times, I have owned ZH302's, ZH303's, a ZP49 s/s and a BRNO Super.  The ZH series had some unusual design features and would need to be revised to gain general acceptance on the North American market.

Based on my experience with these guns in the 1970's, 1980's and early 90's, they are quite solid, well made guns that will stand a lot of shooting; I put 1,000's of rounds through a ZH302 Skeet gun.  IMHO, if they make them to the same standard as the older guns, they would be far superior to anything currently being supplied to the U.S. market from Turkey.
