This week, two 712 shotguns have been returned to the shop BLOWN UP! It is a catastrophic failure. Neither of the shooters was seriously harmed but... Both guns were used extensively for trap shooting.

CZ USA was contacted, claims to "know" about the problem (telling me that these are NOT the only two guns with this problem) but has not yet issued a recall."

I had a similar incident last October caused by a broken firing pin. Believing it was an isolated incident I called CZ-USA and asked them to exchange the shotgun, which they did. I asked the representative if other people had similar problems and he denied.
Today while browsing on an Internet gun forum I just read the warning I just posted above and I'm not happy at all about this.

If anyone here had a similar incident with a CZ712/720 pease contact me by email at nandui@rocketmail.com

Until the "facts" are know, there's not much to say.

I used mine (sold it to a forum member) for trap and turkey hunting, and besides the o-ring going, no problems. Wait and see, I guess.

take off the o-rings on the blown up ones and send them to me.

I'm keeping mine..maybe they had a bad lot.  it makes you think about the real reason they stopped production. was it to make more doubles at the huglu factory, or did they discover the autoloaders were crap?

            I'm gonna stick it out.

Mine blew up because of a broken firing pin. The pin snapped and remained stuck in forward position. When I reloaded, the shotshell was pushed towards the chamber not by the face of the bolt but by the firing pin. The consequence was the shotshell went kaboom before entering the chamber, the shotgun was totaled, and my hand was burned and sore.
I wonder if CZ have the intention to address this problem by issuing a recall fo replacing the firing pins. I will write them an email. If they are not willing to do anything about this situation I will send them back the 712 magnum they sent me as a replacement after my first 712 blew up.
After hearing how many similar incidents happened, I simplly cannot trust this brand anymore.

While CZ should stand behind anything they import and sell, we still need to keep in mind that these are CZ in name only, they are not made by them. Anything made by CZ I would trust without thinking twice about it. Stuff just with their stamp on it, or by CZ-USA (i.e. Model 3), I would judge sepperatly.
