A year or so ago I bought a SAR P8L online, knowing that it would need a refinish. My main reason for buying it was because it had the Opelika logo on it. I live in the Auburn/Opelika area, and stupidly didn't pick one up when SAR was briefly headquartered here. I didn't realize until I had in in hand that the logo was simply lasered into the finish. Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to save much of it. I finally worked up the courage to try re-lasering the logo.
Here's the before. You can see the start of my crappy attempt to scratch it back in.
I was about 10% small on size and 1mm off on alignment, but it's on there! I've never been 100% happy with the finish I did on this one though. Next time I set up to coat a firearm, I think I'll sand this frame down, re-spray it and do a fresh logo.
