Kydex holster with a wide safety on S2C
« on: April 05, 2025, 06:13:22 PM »
Got a Garrett STX2 kydex/leather lined holster for my S2C.But after adding the wide safety, which for me made it darn near perfect, the safety is pushing out the kydex sweat shield. Any suggestions on how to create a bit of a "pocket" for the safety to sit in? Will heating screw up the inside leather adhesion? Thanks

I like my leather lined holster from Garrett and you ask a good question. When I ordered mine my main concern was if the leather and kydex would separate and after at arrived I was impressed.
I honestly think this is a question for Garrett to answer. Good luck finding a solution, I would be giving them a call.

Can't comment on the glue question.

I have used a heat gun and a common screw driver to make a sort of slot on the left side of a kydex holster to lock the safety on SAFE on my P01 Omega.  Took 3 or 4 attempts to get it the right shape/angle/size to make it so that pistol would go into the holster on safe, not move the safety when pushing it into place and then hold the pistol in place with the safety on SAFE.

The raised portion has to be the right angle.  It has to be wide enough at the top to allow the pistol with safety on to enter/lock into the holster while the bottom section of the raised portion/slot has to be narrow enough to trap/hold the safety in position.

I have used very thin leather inside a cheaper kydex holster to try to keep it from rubbing the finish off an M&P pistol.  I used some spray on Gorilla glue to bond the leather and kydex.  It has worked well every where but at the top of the holster where the front of the muzzle gradually tore the leather loose from the kydex.  I reglued it once.  The second time I just got the little Xacto knife and cut the torn loose section of leather out of the holster and it sits right at that point today.  No more pulling loose.

I can understand you wouldn't want that happening with a nice factory made holster but mine was leather lined by me.  A different adhesive might have worked better if I'd have had more holsters to experiment with.

Good luck with it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
