New 631 arrived but breech lock is sticking.
« on: October 05, 2006, 03:30:18 PM »
I just received a new 631 today. It's my first springer, man what a twang when fired. LOL

Only one problem I see so far, the breech lock is a bear to push open. After firing the gun it takes both hands to get it to move. Once moved, I can then use one hand to push it forward, but after firing again it takes both hands to free it.
I've tried putting it on saftey first but it makes no difference.

I'm waiting on a tune-up kit and some moly but in the meantime I put some airgun oil in the breech lock but it still doesnt help.

Any ideas? I bought the gun for tinkering purposes and plan on tearing it down. Is there a piece that needs to be smoothed out or something?

            Thanks

well, all it is is a pin with a spring on it, so I don't know why it would be hard to move.  It should slide quite freely even without any oil/lube on it.  Have you taken it out yet to see if it's dirty or if something else is in there causing it to bind like that?  Look about halfway down the page here.
