Cleaning fixed sights

Howdy!

I'm not sure if this is the correct area of the forum, but here goes.

I have a CZ 82 with 3 dot fixed sights.  The white dots are cruddy and more like "brown" dots!

Any suggestions on how to clean these without removing the dots altogether??  I picked up a "Bright Sights" painting kit--mostly to see if I can enhance the poor sight picture on my CZ 52's, would you suggest repainting the CZ 82's sights??

Speaking of painting sights.  I have a beautiful CZ 97 where the 3 dot sights have been painted green--red--green.  In lower light conditions the green dots are pretty dim, any suggestions?

Thanks for any and all help!

Don't even bother cleaning.

Pick up some Testor's Flourescent Model Paint, in a color (or colors, mixed) of your choice, and reapply with a brighter, more vivid color.  Works a lot better, and is more durable.

And if you have other guns, you can use it there.

I've found that bright orange (a mix of white, red, and yello) and an almost chartruese (green, yellow and white -- mostly white) works great!

The last time I shopped for the pain, about 2 years ago, a model shop had a set of 5-6 colors for about $6.  Enough to outlast me and my guns, if I keep the bottles tightly sealed.

Thanks Walt!  That's kinda what I thought I'd do with the Bright Sights kit that I already picked up.  I just wasn't sure if the white dots were "cleanable".

Be sure you tightly seal the Bright Sights bottle after you use it.  It'll dry out VERY quickly.

(I gave up on Brights Sights [and the related Moon Glow] after trying it. The stuff works, but I think the flourescent paint works as good, and is much less expensive.)

I've used a Sharpie Metalic Silver marker on the front sights of my Ruger GP100. Works OK and I carry it in my range bag so I can reapply whenever it starts wearing off.
