P-06, My review, with some pics
« on: December 17, 2007, 11:19:07 AM »
A first glance looks and points like my P-01.

The P-06 is accurate and so far had been 100% reliable with a positive extraction. I have tried S&B, Remington, WWB and Speer gold dots. All feed and function good. It is as accurate as my P-01 which is very good. I do not like the look of the magazines with the extra baseplate, but these must be the new designed mags with the verticle groove to improve feeding issues. They are basically a 12 round mag with the verticle grooves making it a 10 round. The 12 round mags that I have for my 75b in .40 function fine. With the baseplate they would fit flush. The slide is a little wider than the P-01. It will not fit in my safariland duty holster for my P-01 due to the slide difference. Recoil is about the same as the P-01 which is hard to believe. It almost feels softer than my 75b in .40.

Overall the P-06 is essentially a P-01 in .40. To me it points and functions the same. IMO the P-01 is the best CZ I have owned. Overall I think this is a good choice for law enforcement and military if it is marketed correctly, retention holsters become available and the supply is there.

I like this one... my 75b in .40 my collect some dust.

Great report! Thanks for sharing. The P-06 has jumped to the top of my "must have" list for '08. In the meantime, how 'bout some pics for those of us who'll have to wait for a while!

I'm sure it's a good gun (all of CZ's 40's are), but it seems like CZ simply re-invented the wheel since it looks a lot like my 40P. I'm sure it will also cost a lot more than my "P" did at $269 NIB. Anyway, I hope you're as happy with you CZ 40 as I have been with mine.

It is actually different than your 40P.  All 40P's have the 40B slide mated to the P01 frame with the necessary tweaking involved to make it work.  The P06, on the other hand, is the P01 refitted to accept the 40S&W.  The slide and barrel are different for the two guns.  I would dare to venture that ta 40P slide will not fit on a P06 but that is just a guess at this point.  Has anybody tried it?
