another trigger spring broke

Is that EIGHT? I lost count. Believe me when I tell you - I haven't even shot my PReB since I replaced the last one, and I haven't dry fired it but a few times. I think I really got a bad shipment on this one! I bought it back in 04, and it was likely one of those '03 ones.

Something may be mis-machined, but I suspect the springs themselves at this point. What a nightmare. I feel for you, man.

To replace this one with the gun assembled.  I tried it once before on my compact, but could not hold the spring int the correct position and get a slave pin in.  One poster to this forum claims to be able to do this in a few minutes - not for me!

The biggest problem here is that I hate dealing with the safety (even though I'm much better at it now), and the trigger pin itself.  On the PreB it is a double tapered deal and EASY to drive in/out, but I think if I end up doing it too often, it will eventually get too lose.  Darn.

BTW:  I bought a few trigger springs back a few years when I ran into the TWO P01s and their broken springs.  It was a BAD TIME to buy springs!  The 2-3 I bought all broke within a few hundred pulls of the ttrgger.  This PreB went through thousands of pulls with an '84 spring before it broke!  This last one, like I said, had probably about 100.
