remington 1100
« on: December 28, 2008, 04:41:31 PM »
I recently acquired a remington 1100, it only cycles 3" shells reliably. It does say it is a 3" magnum on the gun. I am not enjoying this gun, I am going to try and sell it. Besides going to gunbroker or auction arms, is there a way to find out how much one is worth? Reciever shows some minor spotting. Thanks, John

Are you saying it will only fire 3 shells or only load 3 shells. If it will only load 3 shells it has the plastic plug in it that is required for waterfoul shooting. Also being that it is a semi automatic, it may  need a good cleaning.

3 inch shells, it works fine, just more recoil than my arthritis wants to deal with. John

That's the problem with the 3" autos, they don't like the lower powered shells.

I have a Remington 1100 with the 2 and 3/4 Frame.  I like it quite a lot!

Have you tried replacing the Gas Seal O'ring that sits at the end of the Magazine? A lot of times they go bad.  Also that O'ring needs to be properly seated against the barrel/Magazine Collar, when the barrel is installed. Proper Lubrication of the Action Rings should also be a consideration.

I would consult Remington Customer Service about this before trading it off.  There is some demand among some Waterfowlers for the 3 inchers, so you should not take too much of a beating, if trading.

I sold it. I have arthritis and a shoulder that bothers me a lot. The gas seals were fine, it was the weight of the bolt. Icould have done a recoil spring change, but better it just went to someone who could appreciate it. I will just say uncle and get a 20. Thanks, John
