double action problem
« on: March 05, 2006, 07:20:07 PM »
I was helping in a shooting course today and one of teh students was shooting an SP01. However he had a strange glitch. If he slowly pulled the double action trigger, he could pull all the way back and the hammer would not drop. With the trigger fully depressed a small amount of pressure to the hammer would make it fall, and applying pressure to the front  part of the left side safety would allow the trigger to fall normally. Compared to my Sp01 the trigger seemed to move farther back before starting to engage the double action trigger mechanism, and would fetch up against the frame sooner. It was almost as if there was an overtravel screw that was over adjusted. This gun was bought new, never worked on and has been this way since new. Currently less than 1000 rounds through it. Given its newness, I chose not to try and fix it until after he talked to his dealer. But for my own info, has anyone else experienced this and do you know what the cause is?

I know that it?s 2 years since the first post but an answer can help someone else with the same problem.
I had the exact same problem and i just adjusted the triggerstop screw and then the Double Action workt again.
The vibrations when you shoot can make the triggerstop screw move.
But it can also be other things, but try this first

eagle, would it be a good idea to (weakly) loctite the overtravel screw?
