Considering getting a CZ75 SA to go with my other CZs
« on: January 24, 2009, 11:10:16 PM »
I already have a CZ75 B, SP-01 and a P-01.  I love how the CZ75 B shoots in both DA and SA.

Is the SA on the CZ75 SA that much better than the SA on the CZ75 B?  The ranges in my area do not have CZs for rent.

The SA model is technically a 75B SA, meaning it has the firing pin block.  I own several pre-B pistols, and I prefer them to my SA, at least in the abstract.  The B models all have hammer-cam from the firing pin block, so the SA mode is not a pure release of the hammer in a 75B SA.  However, I believe my 75B SA was made to a higher standard than the old pre-Bs, and it is more accurate.  I also like some of the SA model's features for the range, such as the extended safety.

Get Angus to do a complete trigger and action job. Under $400. Remove the block. It transforms the gun into one amazing machine.

I too have been considering gettting a SA and have wondered about differences in trigger quality vs other CZs.  I can tell you that the firing pin block actually has nothing to do with the camming back of the hammer.  I thought it did too from hearing this mentioned on this forum, but when I recently bought an 85 Combat (no fpb) - lo and behold - there's that camming again.  When I inquired about this I was advised that the the camming is due to the angle of sear face and the depth of the hammer hooks.  When I did my first install of a competition hammer I found that this was exactly right.  My 97B now has no camming and a very nice single action release while still retaining the FPB.  Now knowing from this thread that the SA does cam back as well, it is clear that it must have the usual CZ75 creep associated with the camming.  Anyone want to clarify whether it also has the initial take-up or "slack"?
