ammo for a CZ 83 CAL.9 Browning
« on: November 29, 2009, 12:41:31 AM »
Hello,I am trying to find out if the ammo I bought is right for the gun I have,I have A CZ 83 CAL.9 Browning. The ammo is Blazer380 auto 95 GR. TMJ,3505.I tried To shoot a couple test round,I just bought the gun.The third round did not come all the way out the barrel.I got the bullet out,no problem.I tried to see if the bullet would go through the barrel,so I took the gun apart to see if it would. The bullet diamater seems to be larger than the barrel. It will not even begin to pass through the barrel.Any info at all on the correct ammo would be a great help. Thanks,,,,,,

380 ammo is correct for Cal.9 Browning.

The bullet should not be able to pass through the barrel with just finger pressure, so that isn't the real test here.

Sounds like you had a "squib" on that third round.   How did the other two rounds go?  OK?

Double check the headstamp on your Blazer ammo to confirm it is 380 acp.

Don't fire any more ammo til you resolve the issue.   We're here to help.  Let us know.  :)

Thank you very much for the information you gave me.I feel safer shooting this ammo now.I didn't know if the bullet was supposed to be that tight in the barrel or not,I didn't want to have the weapon blow up in my face or anything.Thank you again,,,,,,H barnett

That particular box of Blazer ammo would seem suspicious......I wouldn't trust it.   May have only been one squib in the box but there is no guarantee there isn't more in there.

You definitely don't want a KABOOM should you fire a good round with a squib bullet lodged in front of it.

I think you are right about that.I was lucky I didn't fire another round,I had a full magazine, but the last shot didn't sound right,so I took the magazine out and checked the barrel, that is when I found the squib. It's always better to be safe than sorry. The only ammo I have is 2 boxes of blazers,do you know where I can get some decent ammo, thats not too high priced?I can't find any online at all,I live in a small town,so online is my only option.Thank's again, you have really helped me out, thank's,,,H Barnett

I think I would contact Blazer and inform them what happened.   Save the box for the lot number and etc.   They may replace it for you.

If I were you, I'd order some of this Magtech or Sellier&Bellot right now due in next month at The Sportsmans Guide.  They won't charge your CC til they ship it.     14-15 bucks for a box of 50 rounds of 380acp  aint too shabby these days.
