CZ SP01 firing block removal

I am getting a CZ Sp01, and i am going to do some trigger work. i would like to turn it into a single action pistol. can this be done by just getting a single action trigger and putting in the competition hammer? also i would like to remove the firing pin block. how can i do that. i want to get the lightest trigger pull possible. this pistol would not be a carry gun nor a defense pistol. it is strictly for range shooting. all the feeback would be appreciated.

to get a light pull weight
start with the comp hammer..good product.
the factory sear if new will work well. also a lighter hammer spring like the 13# will be nice.
install and fit the sa trigger, install and fit the comp hammer. you may take out the L-shaped DA connector ( disconnector ) as it is not needed in SAO guns.
you will probably need to refit the thumb safety also if you are using the comp hammer.

to take out the FPB..
pound out the roll pin that retains the FP in the slide.
once the roll pin releases the firing pin it will be held by the block. push the block up and the firing pin should come out. once the pin is out, make sure you still got the firing pin spring. re-insert the spring, the firing pin, hold flush with  in the hole and pound the roll pin back.

using the comp hammer should get you in the neighborhood of 2#-2.5# SA trigger. lighter you will need to do a little work on the sear and hammer hooks. possible to get in the 1.25# range.

I'm in the same boat here, as much as I would like to have the TS, but it's too heavy for me, so I'll just have the SP01 instead and convert it to SAO. Nice post eerw... Just what I needed! So, how did your SP01 turned out- modenar1?

How much lighter is the trigger after the firing pin safety is removed?

it's not exceptionally lighter..what you eliminate is the feel of the lifter having to push up on the spring of the firing pin block. so when its in you feel a little more resistence at the end of the trigger pull.
the lever reset point is also after the sear reset point so not having it also shortens the reset point slightly.

What are the cons to not having the firing pin safety?  I don't imagine something will accidentally whack the firing pin with the buffer of extra metal on either side of it.

Yeah, that's a good question... Also if I don't remove the firing pin on a SP01, what would be the estimate trigger pull on it?

I removed the slide to answer that question.  That was enough motivation to start punching out pins.  As it stands, the inner Firing Pin Roll Pin ?2 (57) is sticking out of one side of the slide and the remainder of a punch is sticking out the other.

I got the pins out and removed the firing pin block.  I put in a new pin and dry fired it a few times.  What a difference in the SA pull!  The subtle gritty jerks are gone!  And the trigger is noticeably lighter!  I highly recommend it! 

I would say the difference from removing the firing pin block is greater than going from a stock hammer spring to a 15# hammer spring.

I broke two punches screwing around with that tiny roll pin inside the larger roll pin.
