Problems with double action on SP-01 Shadow
« on: July 03, 2009, 12:10:31 PM »
I have a SP-01 Shadow that has som problems when I use the Double action. The hammer will not fall forward. I first thought this was caused by the triggerstop but that is not the case. It doesn't happen all the time, mostley when I dry fire. Is is fairly new and only fired about a 1000 rounds and about as many dry fires against a cap.

oes any body have any experience with this problem?

Make sure you backed the trigger stop all the way out so it is not limiting the trigger travel at all.  If the hammer still fails to fall consistently on DA, you may have a timing problem and need to advance the break point of the DA a little.  This can be done by very slightly beveling the underside leading edges of the DA disconnector.  If you are inclined to tinker, you may be able to do this yourself (you'll find several threads around here discussing this or something similar).  Otherwise, you can call CZ and have them fix it or take it to a competent local gunsmith.

I had the same problem on my Phantom.  On only the double action pull, the hammer would retract all the way then stop at the half cock position on the way forward so it wouldn't shoot.  It was only doing it for me though and someone finally figured out that my grip, being high, I was pulling high on the trigger.  Pulling at the top of the trigger made the problem a lot worse.  I sold the Phantom back to the store, who stated they would return it to CZ on a warranty issue, as it obviously shouldn't do that, and I bought a Shadow from them.
