So a question was posed by someone else about making shooting open major in a CZ, which reminded me about this thread.

Seen a couple more open CZ's rolling about on the internets, and some new ideas/parts.  Of particular note is Briley is now manufacturing gunsmith fit barrels for the CZ's, in various sizes.

As for new CZ open guns, I'm just going to blatantly link to the photos of the open CZ's I've seen so if they are yours and you mind, speak up.

Mattias from BEnos:

Dennis from Global Village:

Both are TS's, and both are being built by their respective owners as one-offs.  Mattias is doing an extended barrel + homemade comp.  Dennis appears to have cut the front of his TS, and made it like a 1911 (though I don't know the specifics yet).

I've yet to hear any confirmation from US CZ peeps, but some CZ guys over in Europe confirmed to me that CZ is going to be producing a factory open gun, sometime in the near future.  Looks to be based off the TS platform, though with most of the changes that you see people doing with TS's already done.  As the word goes, CZ might be selling retrofit conversions for existing TS's.  Take all this with a grain of salt though, cause who knows what the final deal will be.  These are the pics I've seen, which I've seen since posted in several places:

Steel Gun

We are looking into making Open "STEEL" ie Minor Steel Loads guns, let me know who is interested?
What Platform etc

We are still working on removing the barrels from the front as well.

(I do not support the use of the CZ platform for major loads "kerb side warranty" once you drive it away the warranty is done if you shoot major loads.)

Angus very interested..in minor open steel gun.
barrel coming out of the front would be fantastic.

SP01 or 75SA frame would be good with me.

75 SA frame would be easier dont have to cut so much off the frame and the gun would be lighter.

I love the square trigger guard and black frame on that open gun. Would like to see that in 40 cal Limited configuration.

Any rumor on when that is going to hit the US?

Cz Open pistol

The gun on the top of the page is mine. The build is almost complete. I'm just waiting on an extended barrel. The gun shoots perfectly and have no problem with ejecting brass. Things may change when I use major factor ammo. I hope CZ will sell high capacity magazines for TS as there will be a limited edition race-gun avalible soon. Otherwise I will cut and weld two magazines together. I'll put some more pictures up when the barrel and comp is fitted. :)

Recoilbuffer on Open 9mm

Hello Angus

I have used my ST 40Smith&Wesson in Limited/Standard division. I always shoot it with the original buffer installed. I also own a top in 9mm. The 9mm wasn't delivered with a buffer. I have installed one on the 9mm as well. Is it recomended I use the buffer in the 9mm at all? Shall I use it in my 9mm open major set up? -Or will the buffer brake in pices after a few rounds?
What's your set up on your TS open?

Bump - a local club is looking like they are going to start running Steel Challenge this summer. If they go through with it, I would definitely be interested in getting a SP01- or 75SA-based "open steel" gun built.
