New to CZ Pistols need advise
« on: May 03, 2010, 08:43:21 PM »
Looking to purchase a CZ pistol. I have been looking at the 75B, the SP01, and the P07 Duty. I really like the 75 B.  What advantages does the 75b have over the other 2. Will use the pistol for target shooting mostly. I do not necessarily need a tactical rail, is the Spo1 worth the extra money over the 75b?

Is the 75b better than the P07 duty?
How does the accuracy of each compare?
A local shop had a blues 75b with night sights for 499, or a P07 duty for 499. Which is the better deal?

Thanks
Samned

You probably can't go wrong with any of them, but I'd take the steel 75B over the polymer P07 any day; especially given the prices you mention.
I have no experience with the SP01 so I'll let someone else deal with that one.

I am probably too biased to give a fair answer.

The 75/75B series is essentially the basis of all other modern CZ designs (ignoring the CZ82/83 series, etc.).  The all-steel construction gives you a highly reliable and easily controlled platform for learning to shoot.  I have zero experience with the SP-01 and P-07.  I am older, and I came from a background of shooting 1911s and comparable designs (like the S&W M-59 and BHP).

Different pistols for different needs. If you are not going
to carry, you can rule out the polymer P-07. If you don't
need the rail or higher cap mags, you can rule out the
SP-01. If mostly you are just going to shoot it at the range
you can't go wrong with the 75B. At that price w/night sights,
would be my choice.

If you don't need the Tactical Rail and the two extra rounds go for the CZ-75B.  I have a C-75 and SP-01 Shadow, I like both of them.  The SP-01 is heavier. Both are excellent shooters.  I know nothing of P-07.

The CZ 75b is the great all around pistol, as I have one and love it. The SP-01 I have handled and shot was very accurate and had a very high round capacity. But a little heavy for toting around all day. As for the P07, I have only handled them and was not so impressed that i felt like I just had to have one. I love pistols with a rail as I work and play mostly at night, but handguns have been fired for years at night without rails so you can make due without it. Now one feature that needs to be addressed is the Safety vs Decocker. Without going in to a long spill on both, it comes down to what you like. I have both decockers and safety CZs and appreciate both of their functions. The P07 has both options included for you to choose from.
The one thing I like about the CZ 75b is the kadet kit you can get to to shoot .22lr. Its a good way to break in a trigger and not break your piggy bank. The CZ 75b is a sure winner and a great way to start your collection of fine pistols. Get the CZ 75b, you will not regret it.

I just re-read your post.  If you like the 75B, the best CZ for range/target use may be the CZ 75B SA.

Here's a picture of mine with Hakan's grips.

Here's one of my better groups with the SA on the left (10 rounds @ 25 feet):

The "SCAN ME" sticker is a little over 1" in diameter.  The load was 124gr FMJ loaded with 5.0 gr of IMR SR 4756.

The 85 Combat has the best trigger in the CZ family.  I had two OD green P01's for a while.  They are very nice 9MM pistols.  Hard to beat and have a decocker.  You won't go wrong with any one of them.  I am looking to buy a P07 Duty in the very near future.

I've shot most of the 75 steel variations, especially the 75B and the SPO1 Shadow. I agree with most of the above.

The SPO1 has a little more weight up front which most find easier to shoot accurately faster.

On the other hand the 75B will also accept the SPO1 high cap mags, so that's not an issue.

For range shooting they are both good guns. Both triggers can be improved a lot for relatively few dollars.

IMO, The SA trigger is the best out of the box.

The 75B is a very good bang for the buck.

I have over a dozen CZ's, from .25 acp up to .45 acp,  my favorite "shootin' iron" has to be any of my quartet of 75B's. My Angus customized SS 75 is, by far the finest shooter I own.
