Need CZ 82 Safety Latch
« on: May 09, 2010, 12:42:49 AM »
Anyone have a source for a Safety Latch?  Haven't had any success searching online (Numrich is out of stock).  Planning on calling CZ USA on Monday but I'm already guessing that they're out too.

Problem: the safety easily moves up and down with little pressure.  Took it apart, the steel ball is there, but the safety latch looks worn: there is a gap and the latch doesn't contact the steel ball at all.

CZ probably your best bet. I would think a safety lever from a 83 would be interchangeable, but call CZ to make sure and see if you can get one.

I looked at my safety assembly a little more closely and noticed that the safety latch is directly next to the frame while the steel ball is at the top of its hole and above the level of the latch - this is why the latch isn't engaging the ball.  Could someone take a look at the position of the steel ball on their CZ 82?  I'd like to confirm where it's supposed to be before I try pushing it further in.

Follow up: Turns out that I can easily press the steel ball to the bottom of its hole and the safety works fine.  Trouble is, if you keep working the safety, the ball moves up and has to be pushed back down.

CZ USA had spare parts in stock today: ordered a replacement safety latch and steel ball.  I'm going to see if inserting a second steel ball will keep the lower one (in contact with the latch) from moving.
