CZ 75 BD vs CZ 75 BD Police
« on: December 02, 2009, 10:38:18 PM »
I am about to purchase my first handgun and after extensive research feel like the CZ 75 BD is right for me. Everyone seems to really love theirs! I do have a quick question I was hoping someone could clear up for me.

What (if anything) is the difference between the CZ 75 BD and the CZ 75 BD Police? I am not able to figure it out. I see where some people have said that there is no difference. Looking at the pictures of the two, it looks like the only difference is that it says "Police" on the barrell. I have read that they no loger make the CZ 75 BD Police model. But just wanted to check to make sure there wasn't something I was missing.

Also while I am asking questions on here, does anyone have any opinions on this being my first handgun? Is this a good gun to get my start with?

The "Police" may or may not have a lanyard loop. I just got a BD. Nice accurate pistol. Well worth the money.

bang bang is correct. The 75 BD Police has a loaded chamber indicator pin located on the top of the slide, just behind the ejection port. It is part #47 in this exploded diagram of the CZ 75.

There are several minor differences:
The CZ 75 BD police has
1) Loaded chamber indicator
2) Lanyard loop
3) Serrations on the front and back of the grip
4) Extended magazine release
5) And of course, it says "Police" on the slide
6) I have read that it has serrations on the trigger face and that the magazine release is reversible, but I can't confirm these features.

As far as I know, those are the only differences.

Regarding the serrated trigger, my 75BD Police does have this feature.

This is one of the best and safest first  :)handguns. Just remember that the safety IS the de-cocker. So whenever you stop shooting even for a moment, you press the de-cocker to safely drop the hammer.
Then you are allways ready to resume shooting by simply pulling the trigger for a longer double-action first shot. OR you may manually cock back the hammer for a crisp single action shot.
   Again, ALLWAYS DE-COCK when done.
