CZ-85 Combat Found - Now in my Hands
« on: May 24, 2010, 01:16:21 PM »
I guess I live in a CZ free zone, I have now looked in 7 shops and not one had a CZ of any type.  Actually, I am in the last moments of considering a 85 Combat.  Can someone tell me how the top of the slide is finished ?  round, flat, lined, matte, glossy ?  I searched around the forum but could not see a top view.  I searched a bit on the internet but could not find one there either.

High capacity is not an acceptable substitute for good marksmanship.

Today I saw a fellow with an 85 Combat at a range.  The design looks useable in bright sunlight.  The owner says he has no problems but did change the front sight to FO and blacked out the green dots on the rear sight.

The slide is flat in the center with longitudinal serrations.  It is quite non-reflective, if that is your concern.  I have used mine in brightest sunlight and nearly dark.  The factory supplied sights have been very satisfactory as is.

We were at an indoor range that is very dim in the shooter area, but the top looked non-refelective.  I have a DW PM-9 with a FO front sight that works well.  My G34 has the white dot, which also works well.  I suspect the unit is supplied with Luminova sights.  Those should work well.  Anyway, I'm now checking around to see where I can find one in stock.

I found one at a gun shop in KY.  Now I need to get it shipped to my local shop or drivce to pick it up.  I hope to have it by next week.

Welcome to the club.  Glad you found your 85.  Hope you will post photos and a range report when you get it.

Made the drive and picked up the 85 Combat.  It was at Whittaker Gun's.  I'll get a coupkle photos posted in the next day or two.  Need to clean off the oil and make an initial range trip.
