P-07 40 cal barrel
« on: May 21, 2010, 03:42:58 PM »
Any chance of getting a 40 cal barrel to fit my P-07 and give me a dual caliber gun?

Nice wish, but it will not work. Same question has been asked about Glock 17/19 using .40 barrel to the point of exhaustion. You can get a third-party barrel conversion for Glock 22/23 to shoot 9mm, but not the other way around. The reason is quite simple. Your slide opening for 9mm barrel is smaller and it will not fit .40 barrel. On the other hand, conversion barrel for 9mm to fit in .40 slide is thicker and outer diameter fits the outer diameter of the .40 barrel so it all works fine.

I was thinking more like a full conversion(slide, barrel, magazine), since the frame is the same. just swap the upper and mag, and away you go

Now, that will be the way to go. I will be the first one to buy it if it was around $170-200! But somehow I think CZ is going to miss this huge sales potential. ::)

the question would be where do they get the p07 uppers to make the SP07s?  with the exception of the magazine that should have the barrel and slide needed for this conversion and getting another mag is simple.

I wonder if all of the sp07s start out as two completely separate guns or if there is a way to get just that upper half.

I'm assuming that getting a "replacement" upper isn't as easy as getting a replacement spring through the CZ service center since it's the part that has the serial and what not but I would like to hear their take on it.  The whole concept is no different than a .22 conversion.
