Re-Blue-Eighty-Two

Here are some pics of my -Birchwood Casey- blued Vz. 82. I still need to go over it a few more times. I  am also waiting on wood grips from that Asian guy on ebay. Should be here in another week. I also took some green fingernail polish to the sights. The lanyard loop/main spring stop is aluminum so it can't be blued. So what do you think?

That looks really nice.  I have two 82's and I really would like to spiff them up a bit.

You'll like the grips from that ebay guy.  I have them on my 75B and they look great.

What color/brand of nail polish for sights and how does it work for you?

Thanks,

I don't really know what type of fingernail polish it is. Some cheap green Haloween stuff. It really works a lot better than I thought it wouold. I didn't really think it would hold up, but it does. I used a safety-pin to get it into the little indents.

They were stock grips. When I got them they were cracked so I sanded down the grippie part and JB welded up the cracks. I liked them pretty good, but I like the new wood ones better...

When I showed the owner of the gun shop it really seemed to change his opinion of these little guns. I mean he knew how wonderful they shoot but they do tend to be a little ugly. Consider that with a $21 dollar reblue kit (shipped Cabelas.com) and a set of $40 ebay wood grips, and this looks better then any other $250 guns around. All in all, if you don't have a problem with 9mm Makarov and an all-steel gun, it really is a wonderful CHL gun.

That looks great!! Did you get the grips from a place called Penguin Orchid Shop on eBay?
I did and they exploded when I shot the gun for the 1st time this weekend. I contacted them and they offered me a refund. Not bad. Glad I kept the originals.
I have a CZ and some other guns.
I really want to have more. That's not a bad thing.

I've got 2 -82s, an '86 and an '88 year. The hammer spring end cap on the '86 is alum and square shaped. You can strip and paint black to match. The '88 has a rounded steel end cap. I ground the lanyard loop off and DuraCoated it. Didn't care for the never-to-be-used loop sticking out.

Both got refinished with Matte Black and S/S DuraCoat and a set of wood grips from Marshals in Hungary. Now, what were once very plain, military-looking pistols are very nice looking indeed. With a new set of recoil and hammer springs from Wolff, they shoot as well as they look!
