Did this club die when CZ stop producing the CZ100?
« on: October 20, 2010, 08:17:16 PM »
This place was once crawling with praises and claims to fame about the CZ100, then a few bad reviews and then CZ stop producing the 100 in 07, and this club died. I hope they are still a few fans around that share the joy i have for CZ100. I really put forth the effort on finding that "just right" concealed weapon and compared alot of pistols in the process and everything I looked at, came up lacking. I'm not saying its the perfect weapon but CZ was heading in the right direction. To me, the only flaw is the rail and alot of gunmakers in the early days of rails got it wrong (sig, S&W, H&K) but they were all trying something new, some good ideas some bad. I do believe that I can make it work but I will have to get my hands on some of these new lights like the streamlight tlr-3 and the blackhawk xiphos to compare. I like the long trigger pull and the DAO action, a very safe way to carry and when this pistol is concealed on me, its pointed at some pretty valuable merchandise.
Just wanted to know if I was just the last in line or everyone else jumped ship. But i dont think thats the case because you dont see alot of used CZ100s for sale anywhere. Well I hope I'm not just typing this for me to proof read. CZ for Life

Your are definitely not the last rat on the ship. I still enjoy and carry both of my 100's, a 9mm for summer and the 40 S&W for winter.

Your comments on the rail are interesting. I would be very interested in what you discover. I have spent a little time looking at various accessories but never found any that looked as if they would fit and remain in place while firing. As I am sure you have discovered the 40 S&W pistol recoil is rather brisk, for want of a better word.

Welcome aboard and good shooting.

Thanks for the response, I have read alot of your topics and replies on the CZ100 and want to thank you, as well as others, for all your input and insight on this fine auto pistol. I find that the CZ100 fits my needs for conceal carry better than all other pistols I looked at over the last several months. I will be shopping for a weapons light this weekend and will be glad to share my findings.
I had a chance to shoot with some friends this weekend and we swapped different pistols around, one friend liked the CZ100 just fine, liked everything about it and shot it very accurately, while my other friend liked the fit and feel, he did not like the long trigger pull and he shot poorly with it. Now heres my deduction on the CZ100 and my two friends, One shoots and loves revolvers, shoots DA drills with autos and revolvers. He's the one that enjoyed the CZ100. My other friend owns one pistol and its a Springfield XD and I sold him that one. He had the hardest time just getting the CZ to fire and barely printed on the target. Now if one likes to shoot for sport or recreation and tries different types of handguns, then one learns about them and find its pros and cons and decides if one likes it or not. But if you only have one firearm of one make and model and have not shot any other types of pistols and calibers, then you dont bring alot to the table as far as handgun experience goes.
I chose the CZ100 for a very specfic task and intend to keep it a very long time. I have made and installed my own guide rod and installed a glock #24lb spring, and plan on doing the trigger job this weekend. I find the CZ100's recoil to be far less than most compact .40 S&W I've fired. And I find with a little practice and some trigger time, the CZ100 is a very accurate and dependable firearm, that conceals very nicely.

I agree with your above post for the most part. I have always thought of the CZ100 as a 10 shot DA only revolver. Marvelously simple and brutally rugged. For my part, however, I do think that my 40 S&W pistol recoils more than any of my other .40 pistols. Both the CZ40B and Witness are larger and heavier which of course helps with recoil. I think the biggest factor, however, is that my barrel has no compensation holes. I got the barrel from Bar-Sto Precision and asked that it be made un-compensated. It's not that I dislike compensated pistols, it's just that I don't believe that a carry weapon should be so equipped. This is just my unscientific personal opinion. With that and a dollar you can get a cup of coffee.

I look forward to hearing what you learn in your search for a weapon light. One thing to consider will be the availability of a holster for carry purposes. Good luck and good shooting.

Well the ports do keep the muzzle flip down but the DA trigger dictates your speed for follow-up shots, so they kind of nix each other out. With the barrel ports and a new 24lb recoil spring, they really tame any recoil I felt. I really have not notice a large amount of flash while shooting but have not shot entirely in the dark yet, so I'm still testing this pistol but so far I'm impressed.

I have not tried the "raw chicken leg over the ports" test yet but could see myself testing it to find out the after effects of an awkward defensive shooting position. Some hot gases in the face may turn the tide of battle, according to whose face it burns. But those ports may save my life one day by starting a camp fire in a pinch.

I have a plan on carrying concealed after finding a weapons light, I carry my CZ100 IWB at 4:00 in a Galco holster and adding a light and pouch on my left side should not be a problem. It may not be as fast to activate as having the light mounted while in the holster but having a light that mounts on my person is the goal. A light pouch and extra 10rd mag should wear well and not overly print and stick out. I still carry my keltec P3AT on my ankle and have it for a secondary. This is my Mon.-Fri. carry for back and forth to work. My weekend carry is mainly IWB only.

Which Galco holster are you using. Last time I checked they didn't list the CZ100 on their pistol list. I have several of their holsters and have been satisfied with their products. For the time being I get most of my IWB holsters from AKJ CONCEALCO. I really like the design and fit and being able to switch them from right to left hand configuration is great. For some reason I shoot from the left side as well or better as from the right.

Good luck in your search.

My holster is a Galco Summer Comfort model SUM250, its listed for a CZ P-01 rather than a CZ100, but it fits nice and snug and very concealable. I'm still looking for a kydex IWB holster to make re-holstering a little easier. I like leather holsters alot more but the leather IWB do collapse from my belt tension.
I went to AKJ Concealco website and my galco holster is very similar in design to theirs but for the right side only. Thanks for the info.
